Year 6

Talk Money Workshops

Last week the Year 6 classes had a visit from Steven from Talk Money and participated in 2 workshops. These workshops were a fantastic way for students to make real life connections to money and strengthen students understanding in our Economics unit this term.  Through a series of activities, students examined how people value money differently and how they can have constructive conversations with family and friends about money. They also learnt how to set savings goals as part of managing their money. Students also explored how to save and manage money effectively as they grow up and looked at the different payment options, including the digitisation of money.

I learnt a strategy to save my $2 coins in a water bottle and that’s an easy way for young people, like myself to save money. When I fill the bottle, I would have about $880 in savings. I can also put other coins into the bottle instead of leaving them around.
