Years 11 and 12 Imam Visit
Imam Wadood Janud from Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and leader of Nasir Mosque visited several Years 11 and 12 RE classes in the last week of Term 3. As the leader of one of Perth’s largest Muslim communities, Imam Wadood he is often sought to speak about matters related to the Muslim communities.
He was able to give a brief presentation about the fundamental beliefs all Muslims share before taking part in a Question and Answer Session. Some classes held a more informal Seminar session due to their small size, whilst others had a full formal presentation first. It was an invaluable experience where many students met and engaged with a Muslim for the first time.
Imam Wadood is an engaging speaker who attended a Catholic school in Melbourne, making an early decision to study to become an Imam. He spent 7 years training in Canada, and has worked in different states in Australia. One of his key focuses is to engage with people from different backgrounds and to explore the similarities that people from different backgrounds share, as well as answer challenging questions as far as he possibly could. Many boys participated enthusiastically, asking thoughtful questions and being interested in the artefacts Imam Wadood bought with him. We look forward to building links with him into the future.
