Principal's Report
We were blessed to have Superman, Smurfette, Police Officers, Woody, the Queen and of course three Brigidine Sisters visit us last week, to help celebrate the last official day of school for our Year 12 students, before the commencement of their VCAA examinations. These celebrations were thoroughly enjoyed by all and with a real sense of connection, fun, belonging and community for which I sincerely thank our students. The Graduation Mass and dinner were fitting ways of acknowledging the culmination of their secondary school journey with us. Believe it or not, we have already started discussing the 2025 celebrations with our current Year 11 students - things may look a little different, but we will absolutely always celebrate our students, while being mindful that these events are school events.
Our Year 12 students have also started their VCAA examinations and we are so proud of their approach to their studies and their examinations, many of whom have been meeting with teachers, completing more revision papers and studying here at the College and we hope they can take comfort in knowing they have prepared as best they can.
The next few weeks will be full of assessments, subject allocations, examinations and the Step-Up Program. This time can be a little unsettling for some students and we kindly ask families to be supportive of their children and our staff at this time. Our staff work to provide an excellent education to all students and that requires a really strong partnership with families. At times we may make decisions that families disagree with, but it is important to note that our staff always have your child's best interests, and the interest of the greater College, at the heart of those decisions.
November 1 is All Saints Day and as a College community we are encouraged to spend some time reflecting on the example of St Brigid, a person who epitomised strength and kindliness through her works and her words. She was a voice for the vulnerable, always welcoming and compassionate. Saturday; November 2, is All Souls Day, an opportunity for us to think of fond memories of those who have gone before us. As always, we ask that all who have lost someone find the community of St Joseph’s as a source of faith and comfort.
We hope everyone enjoys the four day break this weekend and finds some time to rest before the final few weeks of term.
