Liverpool Coaching Session
After the recent announcement of our partnership with Liverpool Football Club International Academy, it did not take long for our students and staff to benefit from this relationship.
Earlier this week, St Joseph's College was joined by Galen College, Mount Lilydale together with the host school, Assumption College attended a coaching session.
Coaches and students were put through their paces learning new skills and competing in mini games, all while applying the Liverpool values and 'way of doing' at each competitive and innovative session.
A few world class football coaches were on hand to coach, mentor, guide and lead brilliant high tempo training sessions for the visiting students and coaches. Daniel Gavin, the Asia Pacific leader of the Liverpool Academy, provided guidance and answered questions from all the schools in addition to inspiring the next generation of Australian soccer players.
Mantras such as being positive and aggressive were the order of the day while being reinforced by coaches and players alike. Our St Joes students were excellent ambassadors for our school, whilst working hard to get as much as possible out of the three- and half-hour session.
Special mention and thanks to the remarkable duo of Ms Carri Carter and Mr Brock Kennedy, who together with Tom Dempsey, a much-respected Liverpool Academy coach led two quality sessions.
A truly memorable and rewarding day with lots of learnings for players and coaches alike, while many connections and friends were made.
Thank you to Assumption College for hosting us, and our partners Liverpool Football Club International Academy for a top-class and hugely informative day. Special mention to our bus driver Grant, who went above and beyond for us and kept us safe on a day that will long be remembered.
We all left energised after the session while realising 'we will never walk alone'.
