Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers

School Council News

We are very excited to announce to our school community that James Dixon (Dad of Ollie and Elsie) was officially appointed as our School Council President. Unfortunately, due to work commitments which takes her overseas, Sabina Sopov had to step away from her role and from the council. This created a casual vacancy, and we were able to co-opt Phil Sainsbury into stepping into the role.

Welcome to School Council, Phil! I am incredibly grateful to all our School Councillors for volunteering their time and demonstrating such a wonderful commitment to our school.

First Prep Transition session will take place tomorrow

We are excited that our new cohort of Preps for 2025 will be attending school tomorrow for the first transition session. Our Prep, team are looking forward to seeing the children again as they have already met most of them at the kinder visits. It also is equally exciting for our new parents whose child is embarking on the start of their education journey, forging lifelong friendships and becoming part of a fabulous community.

No Hat No Play

A reminder again to all parents that the children must have a hat with them at all times when outside.

140th Birthday Fair

A reminder to everyone to sign up for the areas that we need help with on the day and thank you to everyone for all their work undertaken so far.

It is shaping up to be an amazing event!

 Bulletin Focus - Writing

This week’s Bulletin highlights ‘Writing’ across the school. Please read your child’s Level Bulletin as it aims to give you a glimpse of the learning at school and provide you with tips on what you can do at home. Your child will also bring home a sample of their writing to help you understand references made in the year level Bulletin.

We want our children to become great writers, but we need to consider what we signal to be important skills as we strive toward this goal. All writing starts in the imagination. Of course, writing is about language, spelling, structure and grammar, but our imagination is the true powerhouse of any piece of writing.

We strive to support our children to write effectively. They are explicitly taught the 6+1 Traits of writing and supported to develop their ability to be analytic assessors of what ‘great’ writing looks like.  You might hear your child mention the six traits of writing. The traits provide a shared language and understanding of the six key qualities of good writing. The 6+ 1 traits are taught at every year level.
