AGMs
Over the next few weeks parents will be called upon to take on a responsibility in two of the major parents bodies within our school community. Members have graciously given their time to work within each group. As part of each cycle some members have served their time on the committees, which opens up the possibilities of new members joining. We are therefore calling on parents to volunteer in becoming part of either of the two below groups. You may also be asked by a current member to join, so please ask them questions if you are considering to do so.
School Advisory Council - SAC AGM 19 Tuesday November 7.30pm
This group meets one a term online. The discussions are centered on the running of the school where, as Principal, I bring attention to the members items around curriculum, implementation of new program, promotion of the school or finances and then have parent input.
Parent and Friends' Committee - PFA - AGM Wednesday 27 November 7.30pm
The Parents and Friends’ Association enables all parents, school staff and families to participate in supporting the school. The PFA aims to encourage social interaction between all parents in a Christian atmosphere and make this an enjoyable and rewarding school environment for our children to attend.
Fundraising also plays a vital role of the PFA and some of the ways in which parents help raise funds is by assisting at the St. Anthony’s Trivia Nights, walkathons, raffles and other social events, which are enjoyable occasions. It is an expectation that families support as many of the events as possible to develop and grow the community and share the event’s workload when allocated to a year level.
Parents are called upon to assist with maintenance work around the school. Regular working bees are held and these are advertised in the newsletter.
The Committee Meetings are held every four to six weeks. All parents are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting.
David's Sister Lucy
Congratulation to Francis and Haneulnari on the safe arrival of their daughter, Lucy. We are sure David, who has been patiently waiting the arrival of his sister, will be a protective and proud big brother.
November the Month of Remembrance
The month of November is traditionally a time in which the Catholic community remembers those who have died. It is related to the fact that the end of November is the end of the Liturgical Year with a new year starting on the First Sunday of Advent – the four-week period of preparation before Christmas. The Church then uses this end of the year period as a time to think of the end of life and the end of all things and the great hope that our earthly end is transition into a new life in God’s heavenly reality. We give thanks for those who have gone before us and we look with prayer and hope to their new life in heaven and our desire to join them there one day.
RSL - Remembrance Day
On Monday 11 November at 11am St Anthony's School community will stop to commemorate Remembrance Day. This will be a time to commemorate, celebrate and pray for our fallen soliders and all who serve to protect our country and our freedom, past and present. In a time of conflict around the world it is important for us to reflect on all who served and continue to serve for their country.
Sincerely Yours
Margaret Carlei
Principal
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
