Principal's Update

Welcome back to Term 4!

We hope that everyone enjoyed the school holidays and has returned refreshed. Students have commenced the term with enthusiasm and it has been wonderful to see everyone settle straight back into their classwork.

State Athletics

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Year 5 student Ruby Burns! Following her impressive performance at the Cobram Athletics Carnival, where she won the 100m sprint, Ruby was nominated to represent our school at the Division Athletics Carnival in both the 100m and 200m events. At the division level, Ruby showcased her talent by finishing 3rd in the 100m and claiming 1st place in the 200m, which qualified her for the Regional Competition. Ruby continued to shine at the regionals, finishing 2nd in the 200m event, and has now earned her spot to compete at the State Level!

This exciting opportunity means Ruby will be competing against some of the fastest students in the state in Melbourne on the 6th of November. We know she will give it her all and represent our school with pride. We couldn’t be prouder of Ruby’s hard work and dedication—best of luck at the upcoming state competition!

Uniforms

All students are expected to wear full school uniform, as per our uniform policy. I am asking all families to assist us in ensuring students are in uniform, including black shoes and bottle green wide brimmed hats. If you require more uniforms they are available for sale Worklocker Cobram. We also have some stock of second hand uniforms available. Please make sure that all items are clearly named so that lost property can be given straight back to students.

Throughout Term 4 all students must wear a bottle green wide brimmed hat when outside. This includes breaktimes and sport sessions. Students not wearing a school hat will need to remain in the undercover area during these times.

Cobram Agricultural Show

Congratulations to all our talented students who showcased their diverse skills at the Cobram Agricultural Show! Whether it was writing, poetry, art, Lego creations, or culinary delights, your creativity and efforts have truly shone. Well done on your achievements, and thank you for representing our school with such excellence.

A big thank you to Kristy Kelly, our dedicated art teacher, for organising a fantastic display for our students to showcase their artistic talents at the Cobram Agricultural Show. Your efforts in coordinating and supporting our students in this endeavour are truly appreciated. The vibrant display of creativity from our young artists was amazing to view. Your commitment to fostering a love for the arts among our students is commendable, and we are grateful for the positive impact you continue to make.

Parking

We have had some complaints from parents about the parking restrictions on William Street being enforced. The school is not responsible for the parking restrictions, this is governed by the council. Parking restrictions are in place to ensure that the front of the school is as safe as possible for all users, including children and adults, who may be walking, in a car or using a bike/scooter. The front of the school is very busy at drop off and pick up times and we ask all families to be patient and abide by the parking restrictions. We have previously shared the parking restrictions with parents, via Compass and Facebook, and have been advised by the council that they will be coming more frequently on random days to check that parking restrictions are being abided by. The best way to avoid a fine is to follow the restrictions!

Last but not least, at CPS, while we don’t have formalised homework for students to do each night, it’s important that parents/guardians find some time to read for 10 minutes each day with their child. This is a chance to put away your devices and enjoy some one on one time with your child after a busy day. You don’t have to give feedback or teach, it can be just for pure enjoyment. The cognitive skills this brings can be very powerful and can make a huge difference to your child’s literacy development. As well as this, it gives parents a chance to connect with their child away from the constant distractions that our busy lives bring.

‘Good habits are the compound interest of self-improvement.’ Let’s get these good habits going strong now and make the most of the time we have at school for the rest of the year.

Have a great week!
