Breaksea House News

It was a beautiful farewell for our Year Twelves as we gathered for a special dinner in the Hall to celebrate the end of their boarding journey. Mrs Di Franzinelli did a wonderful job orchestrating the event, ensuring every detail came together smoothly. Our dining experience was exceptional, thanks to Chefs Nick and James, who crafted a delicious menu. Mrs Teresa McAllister and her Hospitality students truly shined as they hosted the evening with grace and professionalism.  Ms Di Thomas and her class added a warm, personal touch by cultivating succulents in class, which served as the perfect table centerpieces. It was a remarkable team effort from all involved, a testament to the generous spirit of our boarding community.

Another recent highlight was the Transition information night, where we welcomed Years Eight and Nine students from Endeavour House to Breaksea. Each student met their buddy, participated in icebreaker activities, and got an introduction to life at Breaksea. The house was buzzing with energy, and we're eagerly anticipating their upcoming sleepover with us. The day also marked an introduction to our Breaksea leaders: alongside Chloe Climie, we have Matilda Norrish as our Student Representative, Sophie Harris as our Peer Mentor, and Mariella Somerscales as our Rec Representative. This team brings a wealth of enthusiasm and leadership, and I’m confident they’ll be invaluable to our boarding community.

Weekends have been filled with fantastic recreational opportunities, curated by Carter, who consistently provides an impressive variety of activities. From the scenic Point Possession hike and canoeing on the Kalgan River to refreshing swims at Gull Rock and Nanarup, and even op-shopping in town, there's been something for everyone. Our cozy movie nights have become a staple, perfect for relaxing after a busy week. Mr Colton has also been running rowing sessions twice a week, with Chloe, Amy, and Mary regularly attending. It’s wonderful to see more students making the most of the extended daylight, with many enjoying afternoon walks and runs. Katelin Woithe and Mia are staying active with summer hockey, while Esther shines on the basketball court.

With exams on the horizon, Academic Support has been in high demand, with students making the most of sessions to tackle homework, review class content, and prepare with the guidance of their specialist teachers. A big thank you to all who support these sessions, ensuring our students have the resources they need to succeed.

Our boarding community continues to thrive, with energy and engagement at every turn - let’s keep it going!

Birthdays
