Endeavour House News

As I am sure you can see from the photos, there’s a lot of warmth and joy radiating from Endeavour House these days! Many students have been actively engaging in rec, and all things Boarding as we take on the final school term of the year. I would particularly like to thank Mr Taylor Colton and Mrs Amber Freeman and their recent dedication to the rec program, running two splendid opportunities for the students; Amber for the Katanning Show day and Taylor for the canoeing experience on the river. These two activities are uniquely Great Southern and allow our Boarders opportunities to immerse themselves within our magnificent region. The rec program would not be possible without Ms Carter Wight and Mr Ashley Keatch’s energy, planning and preparation, thank you to both.

It is also time to ‘face forward’, as our current Year Eight and Nine students commence their transition and preparation for Breaksea House next year. Our Year Sevens will also embark on fresh beginnings at Endeavour House, which will become our Junior Co-Ed Boarding House in 2025. There is much to be excited about, and I have been so impressed by how the Endeavour students have embraced the changes, opportunities and challenges, with open hearts and hands. The next stage of transition will be the Breaksea sleepover days for the year Eights and Nines on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 November, under the guidance and care of Ms Liz Stewart and the Breaksea student buddies. The Year Sevens will continue their transition with me after prep on those days, returning to current sleeping arrangements at bedtime.

I would like the Endeavour girls to continue to make the most of their prep time in the library. We have been given the opportunity to use this wonderful resource, I am encouraging the girls to make the most of this privilege. We are in Term Four, but there is still much to be learnt. It is important that we remain steadfast in our pursuits and do our best.

Pleasingly, I have seen recent examples of students supporting students through kindness and care. This is something that supervisors work hard to encourage but isn't something we can manufacture or demand – it must be authentic, and it must be driven by the students themselves. I encourage all students to reflect on how amazing we all feel when our environment is safe, calm and happy.

Birthdays

Sending warm wishes to Mackirra Williams, Lani Marsh, and Poppy Ford, who all celebrated their birthdays in October!

I wish you all well at this busy time of the year and I am looking forward to seeing many of you on Thursday 7 November, when you collect your children for the closed weekend.
