Norman Update

Norman, our charming wellbeing dog, continues to bring joy, smiles and a calm energy to our students and staff at St Nicholas. On the two days a week that he attends school, Norman begins his day by greeting students at the gate with Mr Clery. He has on many occasions helped turn a ‘teary or wobbly’ start to the day into a ‘calm and positive’ one.

During the morning learning session at school, Norman usually attends reading groups, where it is beautiful to watch students read to him whilst also providing a gentle, soothing pat. Throughout the day, Norman continues to spend time with his various ‘staff carers’ which enables him to pop by different learning and play spaces for a little “hello” and interaction.

Norman recently had the pleasure of attending the Year 3 school sleepover for a brief visit......and yes, he wore his pyjamas!!! He provided great entertainment as he explored and "zoomied" around the sleeping bags and pillows, and would have been very happy to snuggle in for the whole night if his ‘mum’ (Mrs O) had let him. He needed, however, to get home for an early night, as it was important he was well rested and ready to attend the Parish Picnic at the Miniature Railway Park later in the weekend.

We thank “Dog’s Connect” for their ongoing support and mentorship, and applaud our students for following the required expectations so well.  Take a look at the photo gallery below to see our ‘furry” friend in action. Considering Norman is technically a part-time staff member, we even made sure he was included in our 2024 staff photo.
