Year 5

What has been happening in 5T?

One of the highlights of Term 3 was the planning, writing and publishing of our picture story books for our prep buddies. We investigated the elements of picture story book stories and illustrations and based our stories around a chosen moral, suitable for a prep student. We held a Year 5 gallery walk which included many awards for various categories and we all loved reading these stories to our buddies. This term we have begun to write in a suspenseful manner to engage readers. We are building our skills to effectively use descriptive language to build tension. Our pieces so far have been outstanding!

In weeks 3 and 4 of this term we have been luckily enough to have ‘Talk Money’. We learnt how to save money, manage, and spend money and discuss the digitisation of money and different payment options. Through a series of activities, the Year 5 students examine how people value money differently and how they can have constructive conversations with family and friends about money. 

5T looks forward to what the rest of the year brings, including our leadership presentations and festive season.
