Exciting Staff Appointments and Professional Learning for 2025

We are thrilled to announce that three of our teachers have successfully secured positions of responsibility for 2025, and we couldn’t be more proud of their achievements.

- Marissa Tomlinson and Brydie Tatterson have both been selected to take part in the prestigious Primary Mathematics Specialist Program. This is a significant opportunity for them to deepen their expertise in mathematics teaching and to bring back new skills, strategies, and insights to support our students. Over the coming two years, they will be undertaking considerable professional learning, ensuring they stay at the forefront of best practices in mathematics education. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this program will have on our students and their learning journey in mathematics.

- Candice Nyman will be stepping into the role of Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. In this important position, Candice will lead the whole-school focus on wellbeing, working to enhance the mental health and emotional wellbeing of our students, staff, and school community. Candice’s leadership will play a key role in further strengthening our commitment to supporting the holistic development of every child, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and strategies needed to thrive.

These appointments reflect our continued commitment to providing the highest quality education and support for our students. We are excited to see the growth and innovation these leaders will bring to our school in 2025 and beyond.

Congratulations again to Marissa, Brydie, and Candice on their new roles and opportunities for growth!

Congratulations to Year 3-6 Students on Outstanding Behaviour at Orienteering Excursion

Last Friday, our Year 3-6 students took part in an exciting orienteering excursion, and we are thrilled to report that they demonstrated exceptional behaviour throughout the day. The students were a credit to our school, showing enthusiasm, teamwork, and respect for both the activity and their peers.

The orienteering event provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to work together in small teams, using problem-solving and map-reading skills to navigate their way around the course. Not only did they engage with the challenge, but they did so with positive attitudes and a strong sense of sportsmanship.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the teachers and staff who supported the excursion and helped ensure everything ran smoothly. Their efforts, along with the students’ exemplary conduct, made for a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Transition to Secondary Workshops

Last Friday, our Year 5/6 students kicked off the first of two insightful sessions with Kate Wilde from ‘The Workshop’, an exciting initiative generously funded by Yarra Ranges Council. These sessions are part of a broader program designed to support our students as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. In addition to the student sessions, Yarra Ranges Council has also funded a special session for parents, which I’ve already shared with families via Compass. You can find the details attached below for your reference.

During the first session, students explored a range of important topics, including:

- Strategies for a successful transition to Secondary College

- Effective communication techniques on sensitive topics, such as drugs and alcohol

- Building resilience and coping with challenges

- Managing peer pressure and understanding the risks of vaping

- Navigating social media and other online platforms safely

These sessions are an excellent opportunity for our students to gain valuable insights and build the essential skills they will need as they move into secondary school and beyond. The program not only helps them focus on their upcoming transition but also provides them with important life skills that will benefit them throughout their schooling journey and into adulthood.

We look forward to the second session next Monday, as well as the parent/student session that evening and encourage all students to actively engage and make the most of this wonderful opportunity!

Carpark Safety

A quick reminder to all parents and carers regarding car park safety during drop-off and pick-up times.

- Top Staff Carpark: Please do not use the top staff carpark at any time during these hours. This area is strictly reserved for staff parking, and students do not expect cars to be moving in this space. For their safety, it’s important that this area remains clear of traffic during school arrival and dismissal times.

- Bottom Carpark: If you are using the bottom carpark, please drive slowly and cautiously. Students and staff are moving through the area, and we want to ensure that everyone can safely navigate the carpark. Please be mindful of pedestrians and follow the speed limits to help avoid any accidents.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school grounds safe for everyone.

Up to Date Contact Details

With fire season fast approaching it is a good time to remind our families to ensure that all your details are up to date at the school. If you have changed address, have a new phone number or have a new alternative contact please contact the office to give us the details so that we are able to contact you if required.

Year 6 Graduation

Preparations have begun for our Grade 6 Graduation on Wednesday 11th December. We hold the graduation ceremony at the Warburton Golf Club, with students staying on for a meal and disco with staff before their families pick them up at the end of the night. Information will be sent home on a regular basis and your children will be kept informed of developments as they occur. The Grade 6 students are also preparing for the next phase of their education. It is an exciting time for them with many changes occurring as they progress through to Secondary College. Discuss the transition with your child in a positive way to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Should you have any concerns please speak to your child’s teacher at the school.
