Level 2

Week 4

What an exciting week with the swimming program! Students participated in water safety and improved their skills and stamina in the pool. We are so proud of them all!

Reading and Writing

Students completed their unit on narratives investigating how dialogue can drive the storyline. They explored dialogue as a powerful tool in storytelling and discussed how it can reveal character motivations, move the plot forward, and deepen reader engagement.

In Reading they continued to analyse texts looking at the themes, characters, setting, language, and structure, as well as any underlying messages the author may have. Students then used this information to form their own opinion about the text.

Numeracy

Students finished their unit on shape using the language of vertices, edges and faces. They manipulated materials to make 3D shapes and discussed how a net is a two-dimensional shape (flat pattern) that can be folded to form a three-dimensional (3D) object.

Inquiry

We are mad about mixtures and chemical reactions in Grade 2! Students mixed, discussed and compare their observations while making oobleck and other chemical reactions!
