Level 5

As we embark on Level 5 camp this week, our classroom has been buzzing with energy and excitement! Alongside preparing for our adventure, students have been enjoying swimming lessons and participating in engaging activities within the classroom, making this term truly memorable.

Literacy

In Literacy, we are continuing our exploration of persuasive writing, focusing on the elements of persuasive letters and effective ways to persuade an audience. Students have been busy crafting their own persuasive letters and preparing speeches to advocate for important issues, developing their skills in clear communication and compelling argumentation. We have also been researching historical natural disasters, such as bushfires, which ties in seamlessly with our Inquiry unit. With our creative hats on, we have been working hard to design engaging posters to showcase our learning.

Numeracy

This week in numeracy, we engaged in hands-on activities around inverse operations. Students created their own unique equations using dice and collaborated with their peers to solve each other’s equations. Starting with simple addition and subtraction, we gradually progressed to more complex equations involving multiplication and division. The week concluded with a creative challenge where we designed our own equations incorporating all four mathematical operations.

Inquiry

This week in Inquiry, we explored the complexities of earthquakes, focusing on how tectonic plates interact to trigger these natural events. We also examined the social and community impacts that follow, discussing how earthquakes affect lives, infrastructure and local economies. Students created informative posters on significant earthquakes, showcasing their research and creativity. It has been rewarding to see their engagement as they learn about the importance of community resilience in the face of natural disasters.

Swimming

Students dove into the swimming program and had a fantastic time! It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves while building their confidence in the water.
