National Simultaneous Storytime

Last Wednesday Scotsburn participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime session, which has been happening for over 20 years! The story “The Truck Cat” was read by the author Deborah Frenkel to over 2 million people across Australia which was an awesome experience to be a part of. The students took a great deal from the story, including themes of identity, immigration and culture.

Bunjil Award Winners

Congratulations to last week’s Bunjil Award winners who were presented at our Scotsburn Assembly. You have all demonstrated the values of Respect, Responsibility and Kindness amazingly well!

Toastie Tuesdays!

Another reminder that Toastie Tuesdays will continue every Tuesday, for the hefty price of $1! Don’t forget to send a gold coin on Tuesdays for those that would like a Toastie.

Assembly Performance

How cool was it to see SC1 put on a musical performance at assembly last week?!! Well done to Ms Middlin and SC1 for their learning and practice in Performing Arts, as well as Mrs Murphy and Mrs Connor for supporting back in the classroom.

Cubby PLAY!

Yard Help with Ian

Calling all green thumbs and volunteers! Every Thursday morning from 9am - 11am this term we are lucky to again have the assistance of Ian Rossiter in the yard. If you have some time available and are willing to give a helping hard in the yard, pop in on Thursday morning and Ian will have a job ready for you. We look forward to continuing to prepare the veggie patch area for our big overhaul!

Specialist ART Learning Snapshot

SC2 have recently been studying the colourful and beautiful artwork of indigenous artist Melanie Hava. We began by looking into the backgrounds of her decorative works and enjoyed mixing colours to create our own. We are currently drawing Australian animals on top, and we will be designing patterns to add decorative detail with paint markers.

SC1 Learning Snapshot

Last week, some Damascus Year 8 students came to visit SC1 to share some stories together. They brought along picture books to read with the younger students and created fun, engaging activities to do afterwards based on the stories. It was a lovely opportunity for the students to connect, learn from each other, and enjoy books in a creative and meaningful way. We look forward to a few more visits as the year progresses.

Have a great week!

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Last week we welcomed Erin Dexter into the classroom for her first full time two week teaching placement. She did an amazing job with the students in SC2, teaching our reading and writing sessions each day. Students also completed a few assessments across the week as part of our assessment period. The “try your best” attitude being displayed by all students is a credit to everyone in the class. We look forward to another week with Erin this week.

See you all at school!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
