Student Attitudes to School Survey
The Student Attitudes to School Survey has been administered to students in Years 4-9 over the last few weeks. All students had an opportunity to voice their opinion about the school, which will shape the next steps and actions we take in our journey for continual improvement.
Mother’s Day/Special Person
The annual Mother’s Day/Special Person’s Day stall was another success. A huge thank you to Sarah Jarman for organising the day, and to all of the parents/guardians/staff who volunteered and supported as well.
Education Week
Education Week took place this year from Monday 19 May – Friday 23 May, celebrating the theme, “Celebration of Cultures”. Thank you to all Parents/Guardians who attended the open sessions – we hope that you enjoyed having the opportunity to participate in learning activities with your child/ren!
Athletics Carnivals
Thank you to Ms Cross and Ms Roach for organising the Year 3-6 and Year 7-9 Athletics Carnivals. Both events were a great success, and the students were able to experience fun filled days while competing in various events.
Year 7 Lake Dewar Camp
Year 7 students headed off for three days to Lake Dewar Lodge from Wednesday 21 May to Friday 23 May. Students participated in many fun activities with their peers, which included the flying fox, biking riding, canoeing and damper making. Thank you to Ms Caitlin Pretty for leading the camp organisation and to all staff who attended.
National Reconciliation Week
This week marked the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, with the 2025 theme “Bridging Now to Next.” Reconciliation is about strengthening respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians—for the benefit of us all. It’s an ongoing journey, reminding us that while significant progress has been made through the efforts of many over generations, the path forward will require continued commitment and action.
To acknowledge this important week, the Koorie Working Party hosted a range of lunchtime activities in the library on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, including story time and big screen video
sessions.
Biggest Morning Tea Bake Sale
The Hands On Learning (HOL) Café are hosting a ‘Bake Sale’ for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, to raise funds for the Cancer Council Victoria and support those impacted by cancer. The ‘Bake Sale’ will take place in the Food Technology room and HOL Cafe during lunch & recess on Friday 30 May, and all students will be allowed to buy food during this time. Students will also be encouraged to wear yellow and blue for a gold coin donation.
Prep 2026 Enrolments
Brookside College is now accepting enrolments for Prep 2026. School tours run regularly each fortnight for prospective families who are interested in enrolling their child/ren at our college. Information pertaining to enrolments and registration for school tours can be found

Lakeview 2026 Presentation
On Tuesday this week, Year 9 students attended a presentation by staff and past Brookside students from Lakeview Senior College. This session provided valuable information about the transition process into Year 10 at Lakeview for 2026, as well as important details regarding Years 10–12. Students learned about subjects, academic and attendance expectations, as well as the various programs and opportunities available at Lakeview Senior College. This presentation aimed to support students in making informed decisions about their future educational pathways.
Pat Cronin Foundation Presentations
This week students from Years 5–8 will participate in Pat Cronin’s “Rethinking Anger” presentations. The program covers key topics such as anger and aggression, the consequences of violence, and safe conflict resolution strategies. The presentation also focuses on the foundation slogan that “Violence is Never OK”. It aims to provide students with valuable insights into Pat Cronin’s story and to help students understand how to make wise decisions that contribute to a respectful and safe community.
