Laura Jane's Message

Our St Gabriel's Primary School Acting Principal

Dear Families,

Term 2 is flying along and we are learning lots. We have a few weeks left and ask that our families remind children of our school's Ways of Being at home: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be a Learner.

PJ Fun Day!

On Friday 4th July (our last day of school for Term 2) children are invited to wear their PJs to school! We will be celebrating the end of term with marshmallows and milo. Children can layer up with dressing gowns or Oodies to ensure they are warm and we encourage children to wear runners or closed toe shoes for safety (Please no slippers or ugg boots.)

Please read our Family Engagement section for details about our exciting school production.

This week, I want to bring to your attention three important matters that are essential to the well-being and safety of our school community: road and traffic safety, the St Gabriel’s Parent Code of Conduct and the use of diffusers in learning spaces.

Recently, it has come to our attention that there are significant and serious health concerns around the use of diffusers with synthetic fragrances. At St Gabriel’s we have ceased any use of synthetic fragrances in our learning spaces.  We have confirmed that our school candles, which are used in our front office and other spaces at different times are free from toxins, phthalates, parabens and alcohol.

Road and Traffic Safety

We are extremely concerned about the road safety around our school at drop off and pick up times and recently both staff and parents have witnessed some very unsafe driving. In response to this we have emailed the Darebin Council and reached out to the local police to request a higher presence around our school during peak times.

Ensuring the safety of our children, families and staff is a priority for our school community, and we need your commitment to ensuring our drop-off and pick-up areas are as safe as possible.  We ask all parents to remain vigilant when driving around our school and adhere to the traffic rules and speed limits.

Parent Guardian Carer Code of Conduct

St Gabriel's Primary School is committed to ensuring a respectful learning environment that is safe, positive, and supportive for all students, staff and visitors of the school.

This week I have included a link to the Parent Code of Conduct.  This is a timely and very important reminder for all parents, guardians, carers and visitors to our school, that you are expected to uphold this code. This code extends to all school-related activities and events (including, but not limited to: online activity, school gatherings, camps or sporting events, etc.) and when visiting or representing the school.

Please use the link below to read and familiarise yourself with this policy.
