On Tuesday the 20th of May, 2025 the Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students went to the Melbourne Zoo so they could learn about animals and their habitats. First they got on the bus and had to wait a long time because there was a traffic jam. When they got on the bus they saw that it was very small. They got off the bus at the rail gate and had their fruit break together and started the excursion.

The first animals were large lions lying on the grass eating meat because they're carnivores. They were so cool! Next were the dingos who were standing on a tree branch looking for food. Then they saw a tiger who was running around its enclosure. After that, they saw some Tasmanian devils who were sleeping in the sun and one woke up and started running around.

The next place the students visited were the seals. Their enclosure was so cool because it was really dark and filled with colourful lights. The seals were swimming as fast as they could around their whole enclosure! They also got to see the seahorses who were holding onto the sea weed with their curly tails.

After that, we all went to the Wild Explorers to learn more from the Melbourne Zoo teachers. We saw iguanas and a giant tortoise inside the zoo classroom that had little enclosures and mostly insects. Inside there was lots of learning to do, but outside there was lots of games! Outside we could find animal pictures, match animals to their poo, build habitats and find stick insects in the trees!

Thank you to all the parent helpers who came to help us on the excursion making it the best excursion ever. We had a great excursion at Melbourne Zoo!
