Student News

Junior Literacy
This week, the students completed their Storybook unit, "The River" by Morgan Sally. Students learnt about animals that live by the river and what key words mean, such as slithering and sliding. To finish off the book unit, students created their very own snapping crocodile!
Junior Religion
This week, following the celebration of Pentecost, our students have started learning about the first sacrament of Baptism. To begin the unit, students explored the idea of what it means to belong, and how they belong within their families.
Years 3-6 ICU
This term, our Years 3–6 students have been exploring maps of Australia and learning about our neighbouring countries. They’ve discussed whether they’d like to live in another country, researched interesting facts, and created informative reports to share their findings. Students have also been learning how to use a compass and brainstorming real-life situations where it might be helpful.
Exploring the World of Theatre: Year 5/6 Attend The Addams Family Production
Last Thursday, our Year 5/6 students were fortunate to attend a captivating performance of The Addams Family at the Ulumbarra Theatre, presented by Catherine McAuley College. From the moment they stepped inside the theatre, students were immersed in a rich and exciting world of creativity, storytelling, and live performance.
The production itself was vibrant and full of energy, with stunning sets, clever use of props, and eye catching costumes that brought the quirky Addams family to life. The students were enthralled not only by the actors’ performances but also by the incredible way the stage was transformed into the Addams' spooky and eccentric home. The attention to detail from cobwebbed chandeliers to dramatic lighting, sparked wonder and curiosity in our young audience.
Adding to the experience, students had the unique opportunity to interact with some of the cast members after the show. They asked thoughtful questions about rehearsals, stage fright, learning lines, and how the set pieces were designed and used. The cast’s generosity and insight gave our students a real glimpse into the behind the scenes magic of theatre.
Beyond the show itself, students explored the stunning Ulumbarra Theatre and its surrounds. Originally the site of the old Sandhurst Gaol, Ulumbarra’s fusion of heritage architecture and modern design offered a learning experience in its own right. The visit sparked rich discussions about history, creativity, and the arts.
A big congratulations to Catherine McAuley College and their dedicated staff and students for producing such an outstanding performance. Our students left inspired, with a deeper appreciation for the performing arts and the incredible work that goes into bringing a production to life.
Kinder Visit
Next Tuesday, our students will visit Inglewood Kindergarten once again. They are looking forward to seeing the children there and spending time together. Each visit offers new opportunities for learning and friendship.
