Reconciliation Week
During Reconciliation Week, our school community came together to celebrate and deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Students participated in meaningful activities, where Fire Carriers read the story of Sorry Day (insert story), and senior students streamed the Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd. Healing Mass.
Paddock to Plate – A Hands-On Learning Experience
Today marked an exciting milestone for our senior students as they participated in the first Paddock to Plate harvest and cooking session for the year. With great enthusiasm, the students harvested a selection of vegetables they’ve helped grow in our school garden over the past term. These fresh ingredients were then used to prepare a hearty vegetable soup, which was shared and enjoyed by all students and staff.
This experience is part of our ongoing commitment to engage students in real-world learning, where they not only deepen their understanding of sustainability and healthy eating but also take pride in seeing their hard work come to life. The act of growing, preparing, and sharing food fosters a strong sense of community and gratitude.
Thank you to Mrs Innes for leading the session as part of her role as Chaplain and guiding our students through each stage of the process from garden to kitchen to table. Her passion for wellbeing continues to inspire and enrich our school culture.
We look forward to many more delicious and educational moments as our Paddock to Plate wellbeing program continues throughout the year.
Winter Uniforms to be Worn
Please ensure that you are aware of our school uniform expectations for all students. These requirements promote equality and develop a sense of pride in and identification with our school. As the colder weather sets in, we ask that all students wear their winter uniforms. Please ensure that all jumpers and tracksuit pants are clearly labelled with your child's name.
First Aid Training
Last Friday, our staff gathered in Bendigo to take part in First Aid training. At St Mary’s, we take our duty of care very seriously. This training ensures that our team is qualified and well-prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. A big thank you to Stitches First Aid Education for an informative and engaging day!
Playgroup
Come and escape the cold this Monday and join us for Playgroup! We are thrilled that these sessions are back, where everyone is welcome, offering opportunities for arts and crafts, story time, and a catch-up and cuppa for the parents!
