From the Principal

Mr Matt Elson

Hello Gympie, East parents, carers and community,

Teachers are hard at work compiling assessments and working out where students are academically in preparation for report cards being sent out on Friday 27th June. There are always some students who are ahead and working diligently but then there are some others who need extra time and motivation to complete their assessment tasks. Please have a chat to your child or check in with their teacher on how they are progressing.

This is not news to anybody, but it has been freezing cold at school in the mornings. This morning we put students into the Library as they arrived with a movie on the tv, as it was far too cold under the building. We still have students coming to school without a jumper. Please make sure your child has a green jumper and it is labelled with their name so they get it back if it gets lost.

Our athletics days are fast approaching. In the Sports News section is the timetable and map for both days. We would love parents in attendance on the Thursday and if you would like to come and watch the Ball Games on Wednesday you are most welcome. If we have time, we will run a parents v students v staff ball games challenge at the end of the session!

PBL

Our focus for this week has been ‘Be engaged learners’. This is especially important as we are actively working on and finalising assessment for our end of semester report cards. We are nearly at the end of Semester One and staying engaged when learning is a key indicator of success. Our PBL focus for Week 9 will be to ‘Keep hands and feet to ourselves'. This hasn't been a big problem but it is good to be proactive and remind students to use their words when facing a problem rather than being physical.

Thanks

Mr Matt Elson
