On 14 May 2025, 40 enthusiastic Year 10 Construction students at Marist College Ashgrove had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of construction—without ever leaving the classroom. Thanks to a cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) program facilitated by Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), students experienced a “day in the life” of a construction worker across both civil and residential trades.
This interactive session allowed students to virtually explore a wide range of construction-related trades, from carpentry and plumbing to heavy machinery operation and site management. The VR environment simulated real-world construction sites, giving students hands-on exposure to the tools, tasks, and teamwork involved in the industry.
The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about the insights they gained into potential career pathways in construction. The immersive nature of the experience helped bring classroom learning to life in a dynamic and memorable way.
We extend our sincere thanks to Ryiah Taylor from CSQ for making this incredible opportunity possible. Programs like these are instrumental in inspiring the next generation of skilled tradespeople and helping students make informed decisions about their futures.
