Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

A reminder to all families that there will be no school or OSHC on Monday 9th June (King's Birthday holiday).  On Tuesday 10th June we will have a pupil free day, to enable staff to undertake report writing.  We hope that families are able to make the most of the extra long weekend.  On Tuesday, OSHC will also be available for any families who require childcare. Please note that prior booking is essential, so if you haven't already done so, please contact OSHC tomorrow, if you need to make a booking.

Congratulations to Chilli, Erin, Eleanor, Isla, Archie, Christian, Gunnar, Luca and Loki who all ran in last week's Upper Hume Division Cross-Country competition.  For many of them, this was their first experience at a division level, and they can all be very proud of their achievement.

We are also very proud of our

Year 5/6 students, who received a number of compliments, during their trip to Canberra, from presenters, attending parents, the bus driver and camp accommodation.  This included the way they conducted themselves and looked out for each other, were attentive in education sessions, asked thoughtful questions, and were respectful in their interactions, and in the way they looked after and left their accommodation.

Planning for this year's ski program is well underway and we are hoping to hit the slopes as soon as the snow is suitable to do so!  This year, we have 3 days of down hill skiing/snow boarding planned for students in Years 5/6 and 3-4 days of Cross Country for students in Years 3-6.  More information about the program will be sent home next week.

Thank you to those families who made time to attend parent teacher meetings this week.

Unfortunately, due to illness, a number of appointments had to be rescheduled.  If you have not been able to make a time to meet with your child's teacher, please make the time to do so, asap.

Yesterday, we received notification that we would be receiving $250 as a result of our student's combined participation in the Mount Beauty Running Festival.   Feedback is now being sought from participating students as to what they would like us to spend the money on!

Safety Reminder: Please refrain from using the staff carpark at drop off and pick up times.   Families are also asked to remind their children, if they are walking home, along Lakeside Avenue, that they should only cross at the school crossing and not at other points along the road.  If bringing dogs to school, please ensure that they are kept on a lead at all times.

Upcoming Community Events:

Thanks to Alpine Health, a Wellness Workshop will be held in our multi-purpose building on Tuesday 17th June 4.30pm.  You are invited to join Lee Couch for a free, 2 hour workshop incorporating breathwork and meditation, traditional weaving and a yarning circle.
