Industrial Action 24/03 š¢
As previously communicated via Compass, members of the Australian Education Union have voted to undertake industrial action, including a stop work day scheduled for Tuesday, 24 March. I will provide a further update to families via Compass as early as possible - either this evening (Friday) or, at the latest, early on Monday, 23 March - once staffing availability is confirmed.
Ā
Industrial action of this nature is generally driven by ongoing concerns relating to workload, staffing shortages and pay. While Victoria is often recognised as the highest-performing state in national measures such as NAPLAN, Victorian public school teachers are currently the lowest paid overall in the country, with salaries sitting behind those offered in other states at comparable experience levels. This contributes to broader workforce pressures across the system and provides important context for the current action.

NAPLAN š
NAPLAN has wrapped up for our Year 3 and Year 5 students, and we couldnāt be prouder of the way they approached this period. They showed great focus, resilience and a real willingness to give their best in each session - exactly what we ask of them. While NAPLAN is just one snapshot of learning, itās always pleasing to see our students approach it with such a positive mindset. Well done to all involved, and Iām sure there are a few happy faces now that itās done for another year!

Fun Run šāāļø šāāļø
The MPS Fun Run is fast approaching and excitement is building! Taking place on Friday 27 February from 2:00pm, this event promises plenty of colour, energy and fun for our students. As one of our major fundraisers, a percentage of funds raised will support our Field of Futures Fund and the long-term upgrade of our school oval.
Ā
A reminder that any student who raises $50 or more will go into the draw to slime a teacher on the day ā always a crowd favourite! š„ We encourage all families to keep sharing their fundraising profiles and building momentum.
Ā
Please see the recent Compass posts where we called for volunteers for the day, as well as giving further logistical information for the day. Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
Ā
Other School FundraisersĀ
Our Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser is still running, with $2 from every pack sold generously donated back to the school by Montmorency Bakers Delight. Orders close at 4pm on Friday, 27th of March, with collection taking place at school on Wednesday, 1st of May (more specific collectiom information will be provided closer to the date). Itās a great way to enjoy a seasonal treat while supporting our school. Place your orders here!
Ā
We are also running our annual Easter Raffle, always a highlight at this time of year. Tickets can be purchased here, with the raffle set to be drawn on the final day term - Wednesday, 1st of April.
Ā
We thank our community for your continued support of these initiatives, with all funds raised contributing towards our Field of Futures Fund and the ongoing upgrade of our school oval.

MPS Comedy Event š¤
Our MPS Comedy Night is back for 2026 after being incredibly well received the first time around! We are excited to confirm a āsave the dateā for Friday, 19 June. While we will share more details closer to the event, I can say that we have already secured some big names for what promises to be another fantastic evening of laughs and community connection. A big thank you to Chloe Jeffers for the significant work she has already put into organising the event ā we look forward to another great night together.

Bike and Scooter Safety on School Grounds š²
A reminder to our community that bikes, scooters and similar are to be walked, not ridden, within school grounds both before and after school. This means students should dismount at the school gates and push their bike or scooter once they enter. This expectation is in place to ensure the safety of everyone during our very busy drop-off and pick-up times.
This is particularly important in the afternoon, when many families remain on site for a play once the bell has gone. Once the peak period has passed and the grounds have cleared, students are welcome to ride on the oval and in open areas, however we ask that they continue to do so with care and consideration of others at all times.
