A message from Tami -Jo

It has been a fantastic start to the term, with our students settling in so well and demonstrating a positive and focused approach to their learning. They have shown great dedication and hard work in the classroom, taking pride in their efforts and striving to do their best. We have also been incredibly proud of the way students have represented our school during excursions and events, displaying respectful behaviour, enthusiasm, and maturity. Their conduct and attitude are a credit to themselves, their families, and our school community.
Colour Run
Our recent Colour Run was a vibrant and highly successful event, filled with energy, fun, and a wonderful sense of community spirit. We are incredibly grateful to the many students who put in such a fantastic effort to fundraise, with all proceeds going towards improving our school grounds for everyone to enjoy. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers who generously gave their time to help organise and run the event, your support made the day possible. It was a joyful celebration for our whole school community, and we truly appreciate everyone’s involvement and enthusiasm. We are especially delighted to share that, together, we raised over $16,000, reaching our fundraising goal. These funds will be thoughtfully invested into enhancing our school grounds, creating more engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable spaces for all students to learn, play, and connect.
Primary Planning Days
Our recent Primary Planning Week was a great success, providing all teachers with valuable time to focus on planning for Term 2 and reviewing student progress. Adjustments to the timetable allowed each teacher a dedicated planning day to work with their cohort team, ensuring they could work collaboratively, reflect on student learning, and prepare high-quality lessons to support every learner. This time also enabled staff to monitor student growth and make informed decisions about next steps in teaching and support. We sincerely thank our parents and families for their flexibility and ongoing support during this week, as it plays an important role in strengthening the learning experience for all students.
Industrial Action
We are incredibly grateful for the understanding and support shown by our community during this period of ongoing industrial action. We recognise that these circumstances have brought disruption and uncertainty, and we deeply appreciate the patience, flexibility, and encouragement extended to our staff and students. Your continued support has helped us maintain a sense of stability and care for our young people, and it reflects the strength of the partnership we share as a school community.
Meeting Points
When planning pick-up arrangements, especially for families with children in different classes, it’s important to choose a clear, consistent meeting spot. This could be a designated classroom, a specific school gate, or another agreed-upon location within the school grounds. Having a set place helps children build a reliable routine, reduces confusion at busy dismissal times, and ensures no child feels lost or unsure about where to go. This is particularly helpful when siblings are in split classrooms, as it gives them a clear plan for reuniting quickly and confidently at the end of the day. Consistency also supports staff in supervising students safely and gives parents peace of mind that their children know exactly where to meet each day.
SSG Meetings
Over the past few weeks, we have been scheduling student support meetings for our students with additional needs or are in out of home care. Student Support Meetings are designed to ensure that the students are given the opportunity to succeed both academically and personally. These meetings bring together teachers, support staff, and families to discuss a student’s progress, strengths, and any challenges they may be facing. The purpose is to identify practical strategies and supports that can help the student feel more confident, engaged, and successful at school. During the meeting, team members share observations, review relevant information, and collaboratively develop an action plan tailored to the student’s needs. Follow-up meetings are scheduled to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed, ensuring a consistent and responsive approach to each student’s wellbeing and learning.
School Council
We recently had a School Council election and welcomed our new school council at our first meeting together on Wednesday 18th March. We are so grateful for those who volunteer their time to support us.

NAPLAN
The NAPLAN testing window has now concluded, and we would like to thank everyone who supported our teachers and students throughout this important period. Our students approached the assessments with a calm and positive attitude, demonstrating confidence and resilience, while our teachers ensured they were thoroughly prepared and supported every step of the way. The smooth running of the testing process is a testament to the careful planning and teamwork across our school. We appreciate the encouragement from families and the dedication of staff in making this a successful experience for all involved.
While NAPLAN testing provides useful information about certain academic skills, it is important to remember that it represents just a small snapshot of a child’s overall learning and achievement. A student’s growth, creativity, problem-solving, social skills, and resilience are equally important indicators of success. At our school, we value the whole child, celebrating not only academic progress but also personal development and the many ways students demonstrate their talents and strengths every day.
YEAR 6 SWIMMING
Our new swimming program has been a wonderful addition to the school term, and it has been fantastic for students to be able to walk to such a modern and well-equipped local facility. The convenience of the location, combined with the high quality of the venue, has made the experience even more enjoyable for everyone involved. Swimming provides valuable lifelong skills, and our Year 6 students have benefited from building confidence, improving technique, and developing water safety awareness. We would like to sincerely thank our teachers and staff for their support and supervision throughout the program, ensuring that it ran smoothly and safely for all students.
Goodbye
After five deeply rewarding years as principal, it is with a heavy heart that I leave this remarkable school community. What makes this place truly special is not just its achievements, but its people - the students who bring energy and curiosity each day, the staff whose dedication shapes lives, and the families whose support strengthens everything we do. It has been an absolute privilege to serve a community that I have come to care for so deeply, and leaving it is not easy.
I am especially proud to have carried forward the legacy of Ian Wren, building on a foundation that values connection, respect, and a genuine commitment to each student’s growth. Together, we have continued to place relationships at the centre of our work, knowing that strong, trusting connections are what enable young people to thrive. My hope for the future is that this focus endures, that the school continues to be a place where every student feels known, valued, and supported. I leave with immense gratitude and confidence in the path ahead for this community I will always hold close.
