Last week in the kitchen we made two varieties of pasta. One type was Orecchiette, which in Italian means 'little ears' due to its shape. The other was bow tie pasta. We all had fun creating the pasta shapes by hand and served them with a tomato and garlic sauce.

This week we spent time in the garden. We made newspaper pots to be able to plant a strawberry runner each to take home. These pots are able to be planted straight into the ground as the newspaper will break down! We then made carrot seed tape. We learnt that carrot seedings don't like to be disturbed. We carefully stuck seeds on masking tape (as it also breaks down) and planted them just under the surface in the garden bed. We look forward to watching their progress. Each group got to plant some seeds to put in the hothouse to germinate. We have planted coriander, thyme and lettuce along with potatoes using a grow bag. We added soil and compost to the bag before adding 8 potatoes that had sprouted. We are hoping that they continue to shoot and we can grow potatoes! While we were weeding, we even came across some potatoes in a garden bed that we were able to harvest.
