ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Milgate Primary School would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of the Wurundjeri People, and we would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present. Staff, students and the school community understand that we thrive, learn and live on Wurundjeri Country and we stand with all cultures united as one.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY SIGN

On Thursday 23rd of November we celebrated our new Acknowledgement of Country sign. It was great to see so many people attend and to have the artists, Tanise and Judith Young, present for the celebration as well. The artwork is of significance to both the artists and the school community, so please enjoy reading about it and viewing it when you are next around the school.

FINAL TRANSITION SESSION

We are thrilled to share the highlights from our recent and final transition session for the future Foundation students! The excitement was palpable as students had the opportunity to meet their new teacher, explore their future classroom, and connect with their soon-to-be classmates. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of anticipation and camaraderie as friendships began to blossom. In addition, some students had the joy of meeting their designated buddies, adding an extra layer of support and friendship to their upcoming academic journey. This session not only marked the beginning of a new chapter for our students but also emphasised the importance of building a strong and supportive community within our school. We can't wait to see these budding relationships flourish as our future Foundation students embark on their educational adventure!

VISUAL ARTS RESOURCES

ATTENTION FOUNDATION AND YEAR 1 PARENTS

Thankyou for all your contributions so far to allow students to create Art pieces from recyclable materials. The only thing we still require is more paper towel rolls so please continue to bring these in and place them in the box outside the Library.

ENVIRONMENTAL TEAM

Congratulations to 3TW for being this week’s trash free Tuesday winner and having 1 piece of trash! They will receive ’Ernie the Earth’ our environmental mascot. Overall as a school we got 209 pieces of trash. Well done to everyone who has contributed to our composting already. This week the Environmental team has been working on designing and painting paving stones to go in front of 5RC Here are some photos of the team in action! Can’t wait to see these being used soon.

CROSSING SUPERVISOR UPDATE

From next week there will not be a crossing supervisor at the Serpells Rd crossing. Manningham Council have a staff shortage and identified this as a low-risk crossing.  As there is a higher risk one that requires attention, the Serpells Rd crossing will be unsupervised.
