SPORTS NEWS

This week has been a huge week recognising the sporting achievements of our very own Max I in Year 6. He has received three awards recognising his dedication and talent in a range of sports. 

 

The first award was the Sydney Catholic Schools Medallion. This award recognised his achievements in Sydney Catholic School Sports including Athletics, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Swimming, Australian Football and Cross Country. 

 

Max then received a CSNSW Maroon award, in light of his outstanding sporting abilities, unwavering dedication, and remarkable achievements. 

 

Max stands out as a mature, motivated, and dedicated sportsman, showcasing exceptional athletic prowess and unwavering commitment. His selection in the MacKillop 11 Years Rugby League team was a testament to his skill, and subsequently, he earned a spot in the NSWPSSA State 12 Years Rugby League team. The team travelled to Townsville for the School Sport Australia Championships and achieved great success, finishing in first place.

 

In 2023, Max represented St Aidan’s Maroubra, his SCS Conference, Sydney Catholic Schools, and MacKillop in a diverse range of sports, including Australian Football, Touch Football, Rugby League, Cross Country, and Athletics. 

 

Serving as a proud Sports Captain at St Aidan's Maroubra, Max approaches his role with maturity and responsibility. His school community takes immense pride in Max and his sporting accomplishments over the past seven years, recognising his role in fostering a genuine love for sports throughout the entire community.

 

Max consistently delivers outstanding performances across various sporting events and codes throughout the year and he exhibits very strong leadership qualities. Whether in victory or defeat, he maintains a positive attitude, resilience and grace, serving as an exemplary role model for his peers.

 

To top the week off, Max also received a very prestigious award. The Gary McSweeney award. This award was presented to Max as he is the top performing male in Catholic Schools New South Wales (CSNSW). This is an incredible achievement and we are beyond proud of him. 

 

Max has consistently displayed outstanding performances in various sporting events. He demonstrates strong leadership qualities and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Max demonstrates collaborative spirit, communication skills and the ability to contribute to the overall success of a team. He displays exemplary sportsmanship, showing respect for his opponents, officials and teammates. Max exhibits a positive attitude, resilience, and grace in both victory and defeat, serving as a role model for his peers.

TOUCH FOOTBALL TRIALS

Congratulations to the students who attended the conference 1 touch football trials last week. Alessandro, Grace B, Niamh, Clara and Aniela all represented St Aidans with pride and enthusiasm. We are proud to announce that Niamh, Clara, Grace and Aniela will all be progressing to the next level. Congratulations to these girls. We are very proud of you.
