Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week, Mrs Green and I had the opportunity to attend the Sydney Catholic Schools event, titled Architects of Change - Defining Educational Excellence. It featured inspiring presentations and performances and insightful panel discussions. Tony Farley, Sydney Catholic Schools’ Executive Director, expressed “We are actively challenging conventions, striving to make an impact on children at every learning stage without compromise, and empowering educators to make meaningful change - Across our network of 147 schools, we have the powerful advantage in scale, imagination, and educational expertise to share resources, research, and future-focused thinking for the benefit of every student.”
It was an invigorating and thought provoking day, providing an opportunity to understand how Sydney Catholic Schools is evolving its approach in areas such as learning, sport, music, arts, and community engagement.
The St Aidan's community came together to commemorate Remembrance Day this past week. On Saturday 11 November the school choir led by Mrs Shaw sang at the Maroubra RSL Sub Branch commemoration service and some Year 6 school leaders laid a wreath to remember those who died while serving the country. Our students came together and drew poppies on our playground in chalk and a moving liturgy was held during our Monday afternoon assembly. "Lest We Forget"
I would like to say a huge Congratulations to Max I in Year 6 who received a Sydney Catholic Schools Sports Award and and two other major awards from CSNSW this week. Miss Preece and I attended these special presentations at Marcellin College Randwick and Our Our Lady of Fatima, Caringbah. One of the awards Max received was the Gary McSweeney award which is a very prestigious award. This award was presented to Max as he was the top performing male in Catholic Schools New South Wales for 2024. This is an incredible achievement and we are beyond proud of him. Max is a humble student who strives to do his best in all facets of school life. He is clearly an extremely talented young sportsman who demonstrates all of the qualities of a true sportsman. These awards were extremely well deserved. Well done Max!
Looking forward to seeing all of our families this Sunday at our last Family Parish Mass for the year. We also have our Catholic Community Fair for the first time. Thank you to all of our families who have donated and volunteered to help out on the day. We have some fun games, yummy food and exciting performances planned for the morning.
Take care and God bless.
Warm regards,
Rachel Baker
