Visual Art

This week students have worked on finishing projects and reflecting on their work and skills.

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have compared self portraits they made this week with portraits they made in week 1 of this year. They loved looking back at their portraits from the start of the year and discussed how their drawing styles and skills have changed.

Students in Grades 3 and 4 finished their sculpture tableaux of a given subject and enjoyed a mini exhibition to appreciate the work of their peers.

Grade 5 and 6 students explored the technique of Pointillism and studied work by the French artist Georges-Pierre Seurat to inspire their own pointillist landscape art. They used various tools and found this painting technique quite time consuming but comforting and relaxing as well.

It has been a creative and productive year in Visual Art and it has been wonderful to see students gain confidence in developing their own ideas and furthering their abilities.

I wish you and your families a joyous festive season and fabulous summer break.

Best wishes,

Mrs T.
