Level 5 & 6 Wonga Weekly

Week 10, Term 4

🌿 READING AND VIEWING

Students will complete a visualisation on their Literature Circle text. They will also look for evidence in 'whodunnit' texts to solve a mystery.

🪴What you can do at home:

We encourage your child to read independently as often as possible.

📸 SNAPSHOT: Look out for your child's Term Four reading snapshot. Ask your child to share their Little Lunch T-Shirt with you and the character they chose to analyse. Use the T-shirt to prompt discussions about the reasons they included what they did.

🌿 WRITING

Students are continuing to collaborate to develop an idea, storyboard and write their own episode of 'Little Lunch'. They will be working towards starting to film the episode this week.

🪴What you can do at home:

Ask your child to share their group's episode idea. Provide them with time to learn any lines they need for the filming.

🌿 MATHS

Students will complete their Term Four snapshot where they will reflect on the topics covered during the term. They will create an anchor chart on a concept of their choice to demonstrate their understanding.

🌱 Grade 6: Students will continue exploring algebraic equations. They will learn about pro-numerals, substitution, simplification and finding a rule/pattern to represent it.

🌱 Grade 5: Students will be investigating 3D objects and their properties. They will connect this learning to the concepts of volume and capacity.

🪴What you can do at home:

We encourage students to use Mathletics to further develop their skills and understanding of the areas of maths outlined above.

🌿 GRADE 5 COMMUNITY

Students will be working across the year level in mixed groups to solve hands on challenges. Through these activities they will build and strengthen their relationships with peers in readiness for their new Grade 6 classes.

🌿 GRADE 6 GRADUATION

Throughout the week Grade 6 students will be preparing for their graduation by writing and practising their speeches and song. This will help with their confidence for the ceremony.

🌿 HOMEWORK

In addition to reading four times a week for at least 20 minutes, Mathletics and 'What you can do at home' recommendations above, this term:
