Level 1 & 2 Wonga Weekly

Week 10, Term 4

What an awesome day the Grade Ones had on Friday at their ONEderful Day camp!! We hope your Grade one children had as much fun as we did. We are so proud of how grown up the the Grade Ones were and how independent they are.

 

Tomorrow we have the Grade Two Day Camp. 

The weather is looking perfect and we are really looking forward to going to the Mt Evelyn Adventure Camp. Please don't forget that we need to leave by 8:45 so please be at school NO LATER than 8:30.  Please also don't forget that pick-up is at the camp at 5:30pm.

 

READING

We will be reading books that look at the importance of friendships, family and being grateful and responding to those books by celebrating all the people in our lives that help to make our life better. 

 

What you can do at home?

-Read books about family and friendship and discuss the importance of celebrating the people around you and the qualities they bring.

-Assist your child to read their take home book each night. 

-Read a variety of persuasive texts to your child

-Have your child point out the persuasive language

 

🔡 Grammar and vocabulary 

This week we will be looking at conjunctions (their type and their purpose). We will also be studying contractions.

 

What you can do at home?

-Find sentences which use conjunctions (and, but, or, so, since, for, because, as, yet, still, while, therefore - to name a few). Point them out and discuss their purpose.

-Find conjunctions and unpack the two words which have been combined and also notice the placement of the apostrophe.

 

WRITING 

we continue to learn how to write persuasive texts by building the language, using the structure, stating our case and using examples to support our reasons.  

We will also be completing a reflection on our Grade One camp. 

We will also find time to  write about all the little things we are grateful for and what we can do to fill other people's buckets.

Finally we will be sending home an invitation to our Grandparents (or other special family friend or member) Day on Tuesday 12th December from 9:30-10:45.

 

🔢  Maths 

We continue to learn about time - from seconds to millenniums, from reading analogue clocks to working out when events happen and time transitions. We will also look at conversion between seconds, minutes and hours. 

 

What can you do at home? 

-Practice skip counting patterns backwards especially 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s

Practice reading analogue clocks and discuss the time events start and finish.
