Literacy

We have been busy learning how to write a persuasive text. We are learning to use sentence starters such as "I believe...", "I prefer..." and "I agree that..." when we state an opinion.

We looked at some different statements and everyone decided whether they agreed or disagreed with it. Every student gave a reason for their opinion.

Here are some of our topics and opinions:

Football is the best sport

I think football is the best sport because it makes you run faster." - Jayden

I don't think football is the best sport because you might get concussion." - Luke

"I don't think football is the best sport because I don't like it and I don't know how to play it." - Sabrina

"I think football is the best sport because you might get a trophy." - Lucas

Cats make the best pets

"Cats are best because they are cute." - Khushleen

" I don't like cats because they might scratch your face." - Alex

"I believe cats are the best pet because they can catch mice." - Melody

"I don't think cats are a good pet because they climb on fences and they go somewhere and you don't know where they are." - Zion

Animals should not be kept in zoos

"I believe that animals should not be kept in the zoo because they need some freedom." - Sienna

"Animals should be kept in zoos because we can learn about what they are and what they do." - Andi

"I agree because animals should live as they want." - Jasmine

"I think animals should be in zoos because kids get hurt if animals are not in cages." - Leo

Inquiry

We have been exploring how light affects how well we can see something.  We made funny stories in cartoon form to show what we know about light sources and how they can help us. Check out our work in the photos below.
