Faith & Mission Report

Danny Franc

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3: 16

As you read this, the staff and students would have just completed their final day together for 2023. Even though the celebration brought the year to an end, it was also the beginning of something new, the new Church year as Advent begins.

The Advent season reminds us about the importance of Christ in our lives and prepares us to celebrate Christ’s birth at Christmas.

Our Advent / Christmas liturgy started our last day of celebration in style. Father Paddy Mugavin celebrated mass with us, and the 2024 leaders explained the significance of advent to us.

Our exiting staff were recognised and prayed for, before a final celebration of Christmas hymns to get us into the Spirit.

St Vincent de Paul’s Christmas Appeal received a boost from our Monivae community, with gifts and a financial donation presented. The importance of helping others can never be underestimated especially at this time of year when many do it harder than they care to share.

Thanks must go to all our families who have supported our appeals throughout the year, as every little bit counts, even if it is just a smile and a hello.

Leading up to the last day, there were plenty of Faith activities occurring at Monivae. As mentioned in the last newsletter, the Graduation Mass and Dinner was the last outing for our Year 12 cohort. Father John Mulrooney msc was the priest for the Mass, and as always, shared wonderful insight to the graduating class.

Our Year 7 and Year 8 cohort both celebrated their Reflection Day during the last two weeks as well.

These days are designed to give the students some time together as a cohort to look at what it means to be MSC, what it means to be a Monivae student, and what it takes to look at the whole person, not just the superficial.

These were great days enjoyed by all.

As the year comes to an end, I send you all peace, love, and prayers for this Christmas period.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved.
