Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the Summer holiday season, I trust this newsletter finds you in good health and high spirits. With the year drawing to a close, it is a fitting time for students, staff, and parents to enjoy a well-deserved break, allowing space for reflection on the school year and anticipation for the one ahead.

I encourage you to connect with the College, via our socials, over the break. Although the school year has ended a number of cricket tournaments are being held in December and January. The U16 boys Cricket Victoria Country Cup (December 11-14), Girls U15 Cricket Victoria Country Cup (December 18-21) and Hamilton Junior Girls tournament (January) will be hosted by Monivae.

A heartfelt expression of gratitude is due to our remarkable teachers and dedicated support staff at Monivae. Their unwavering commitment has been instrumental in our achievements this year.

Each year we farewell staff who are taking up opportunities elsewhere. I extend my thanks and gratitude to them and the contribution they have made to the College.

Advent season and the beginning of the new Liturgical year commences on Sunday 3 December. Beginning four Sundays before Christmas, it is a time of preparation for our hearts and minds for the anniversary of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. This season is intended to renew our joy, hope, faith and love. Many families celebrate Advent with a wreath and the lighting of candles each week. This begins with the purple candle of hope and faith, the pink candle of joy and the final purple candle of peace. The use of the wreath and candles during Advent are a longstanding Catholic tradition that was originally adopted by Christians in the Middle Ages as part of their spiritual preparation for Christmas.

Advent prayer for the family

Give us the grace and strength we need every day. Help us to always trust in you. Come, Lord Jesus, lead all people closer to you. Come and dispel the darkness of our world with the light of your love.

I extend my sincere appreciation to you, our parents and carers, for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. And to our students, thank you for your continuous efforts in making our school an extraordinary place of learning.

I encourage our students to stay active and engaged during the holiday period by indulging in physical activities and exploring the wonders within the pages of at least one good book.

I hope and pray that you all find peace and joy with family and friends during this festive season.
