COURAGE, KINDNESS, CREATIVITY & COMPASSION

21/11/23

Dear Parents and Carers,

My heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the incredible PFA Team for their outstanding efforts and meticulous planning that made the 'Colour Run 2023' a resounding success.

Having been a part of the meetings, I have witnessed the dynamic actions and engaging conversations that took place to ensure a memorable and fun experience for our students. A special acknowledgement goes to Suzanne and Laura, whose tireless efforts ensured that every detail was covered, and everything was set up seamlessly for the students.

A massive thank you is also due to all the dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and effort on the Friday afternoon. Your superlative effort did not go unnoticed and played a crucial role in the event's success.

To the entire St Kevin’s PFA Team, thank you for generously giving hours of your time and for the energy you consistently share. Your commitment to the school's continual improvement is truly commendable, and we are immensely grateful for all your efforts.

Thank you to all the sponsors who donated and generously gifted vouchers for the raffle.

We have decided that all classes will have a special movie and popcorn afternoon ( Date to be confirmed). Your teamwork, dedication, and caring spirit have made a significant impact on our school community. Thank you for being an incredible team, and we look forward to more successful events under your guidance.

This is incredible! All money raised will be going to resource Science at St Kevin’s Primary School

Thank you to all parents who donated funds.

Fun Day on 5th of December!

After careful consideration and in response to various factors, we have decided to cancel the Twilight School Sports event at Whitefriars. The decision was not taken lightly, and I would like to share the reasons behind it:

Staff illness: Unfortunately this was the major reason for cancelling the Twilight Sports.

Communication and Information: We acknowledge that there has been a lapse in appropriately informing parents, and the necessary details have not been entered into Compass events as required.

Transportation Costs: The quotes for the bus transportation required for the event have been obtained, and it has been determined that the overall cost of transporting students would be significantly high.

Late Notice Concerns: At a recent SAC meeting, concerns were raised by at least two parents regarding the late notice of the rescheduling. Issues such as notifying workplaces and arranging for student pick-ups at Whitefriars were discussed.

Consecutive School Evenings: Considering the school's schedule, it has been noted that we already have two consecutive evenings planned at school - Monday for the Carols and Tuesday for the Sports. This posed additional challenges for both parents and staff.

In light of these considerations, we have actively sought an alternative solution. I am pleased to share that the Year 5 and 6 Students led by Miss C and many staff members are planning and organising the afternoon between 2pm and 3:30pm on the St Kevin’s Oval.    There will be an opening ceremony,  some cheerleading, lots of tabloid activities and sprints.  All parents and carers are most welcome to attend!

Thank you to everyone for your understanding and cooperation. We believe that this alternative plan will provide an enjoyable, cost effective  and inclusive experience for all involved.

School Assembly in Term 4

Wednesday 6th December, 2023 Whole School Assembly -  in the Church 2:30pm – 3:15pm

Wednesday 15th December, 2023   Last Day - Whole School Assembly Farewell to Year 6 Students - in the Stadium 1pm - 1:30pm

Traffic Control

It has been reported to me several times over the last few weeks that parents are stopping on the opposite side of the road and students are crossing the road.  There have been a few near misses and this is dreadfully scary for all involved.

I have called and emailed VIC Roads several times and I am waiting for assistance with better signage.

Please do not park on the opposite side of the road. It is much safer to turn and drop off on the side of the school crossing.  Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. Safety is everything.

Update to SCHOOL FEES 2024

Growing Leaders is such an important part of the student voice!

There will be an additional to School fees for Year 6 in 2024!

The Year 6 students will be attending a Leadership day in Term 1, 2024. The cost for this is $60.

The other change to the Fees is the Year 6 Big Day out expense! This also will cost $60.

Kindness

This term all the students have been working on being ‘Kind’ to themselves and others. We will continue to discuss welcoming new students and being friendly to each other especially during transition.  As the year continues to progress we see tiredness and irritability. Please speak to your child/children about acceptance of all and especially using kind language.

Every blessing,

Gabee Leone
