From the Head of Sport

We have two weeks remaining of Saturday sport this term and I am looking forward to watching the Boys' Basketball this weekend, as they have their first set of home games.

We also have Girls' Touch Football at home. The First VI girls have seen some good success so far this term, currently sitting on the top of the table, so come along and support them on their path to the finals.

During Round 6 we have all our teams at home so I am looking forward to a big Home Day.

The BMGS Touring Rugby team will be running a barbeque on the day so everyone is encouraged to support them. If you are available to help out either in the canteen on the BBQ please email Mr Michielsen on agmichielsen@bmgs.nsw.edu.au

Congratulations - Netball

This week the Western Sydney Academy of Sport has named the athletes who have been successful in being chosen as part of their program for 2024. Congratulations to Year 9 students Jessica Harris and Rose Perisce-Burrell have been selected in the Western Sydney Academy of Sports squads for Netball and Netball Umpiring respectively. Congratulations to both girls on being chosen in this program.

Congratulations - Mountain Biking

Over the past couple of months Fabian Boda-Tulogdi (Year 8)

competed in the Western Sydney Enduro Bike championships.  He is very passionate about Downhill Biking and is fast becoming known as one to watch among DH bikers in his age category.

Fabian demonstrated his mountain biking skills by securing first place in two challenging races and earning a commendable second place in another. His consistent excellence culminated in a fantastic victory, as he achieved the top position in the overall standings on November 12th in his age category.

Fabian is preparing for even bigger challenges. With his sights set on the National Downhill Championship in Hobart, Tasmania, and the adrenaline-packed Cannonball Race Series in Thredbo over the Summer Holidays.   We congratulate Fabian and wish him all the best in his upcoming events.

Tennis

BMGS Tennis – Round 3

Last year our home games were played in Lithgow, meaning we had to travel even when we were at home.

This year we have been fortunate to secure the Springwood Tennis Centre as our home courts.

For our players, it was a sleep-in, with games beginning at 9:30am. Many parents took advantage of this and were able to see their children in action. Thank you to all those who stayed to watch the matches. We did not know if we would get our games completed before the rain would come. There was some drizzle but not enough to stop play or dampen the enthusiasm.

For the Odds Team, congratulations to Neil and Hugo Lewczak who had wins in both their singles and doubles. Thank you to Lorence for stepping in this week to play as a reserve for Jed. He fought hard in both his Singles and Doubles, with both going to match tiebreakers. He lost in the doubles 12 points to 10 so it was very close.

BMGS Odds lost 11 sets to 10 against KWS Evens.

For the Evens Team, congratulations to Raph and Laurits who both won their Singles matches and paired together well in the Doubles match staging a good comeback after losing the first set. Eligh had another win in his singles match this week and teamed up with Oliver to have a win in their Doubles match.

BMGS Evens won 11 sets to 9 against KWS Odds.
