From the Head of the Junior School
Teachers are busy completing final assessments and writing reports for the end of the year. Our students are still working hard, often on interesting and fun projects that have a high interest for them. The Stage 2 girls and I are working on a special project – creating a fairy garden for the younger students. The learning that happens when we work together is rich – it becomes not about the end product, but about the learning that happens along the way.
The Stage 3 Yarramundi Christmas play was on this week – “A Very Potter Christmas” – and it was MAGICAL. Well done to the children who did such a fabulous job. They worked so productively together and the show was lots of fun. It’s great to watch the children as they work through the process of putting on a play and making sure all of the components go together.
The end of the week was all about the Colour Fun Run. This event was put on by the Parents' and Friends' Association and was a great success. We were grateful that the weather improved and we ended up with a lovely sunny event. Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped put on a wonderful event. The fundraising links (sent to all families) will still be open all weekend, closing midday on Monday.
May I encourage everyone to give something towards the event, to make sure costs are covered and remembering that money raised goes towards improving the school for the children.
Finally, I’d like to announce that the Junior School Captains for 2024 are:
Tasman Harrison and Matilda Hewatt
Well done to these outstanding children, and all of the Year 5 students who courageously stepped forward in the election.
