Deputy Principal's Message

Welcome to Term 3 and Semester 2. It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the school year. Have a look at the calendar on the School Bytes app for an overview of up-coming events. We certainly have another busy term ahead!
PAX Good Behaviour Game
The PAX Good Behaviour Game is an internationally-recognised program that BVPS teachers implement across all classrooms to help create and strengthen peace, productivity, health and happiness.
PAX consists of proven behavioural strategies used daily by teachers with students. These evidence-based and trauma informed strategies help to build self-regulation in children, strengthen peer networks, reduce impulsivity and teach prosocial decision-making in students. The ‘peaceful’ (PAX) classroom environment supports learning, wellbeing, participation and confidence.
In our classrooms, teachers use the PAX Good Behaviour Game to explicitly teach behaviour expectations and to support inclusion, and connection. It is not a curriculum, nor a system of 'consequences' for bad behaviour. Instead, it helps children learn to work together by reinforcing desirable behaviours and inhibiting unwanted behaviours in the classroom and the playground.
For more information on PAX visit the department's PAX webpage.
Attendance
We are here to support your child in getting the most out of their learning, which starts with them attending school every day. If your child cannot be at school because they are sick, have a medical appointment, have sorry business or other reasons, please inform us of their absence. You can contact the office on 6772 4263 or explain an absence using the School Bytes Parent Portal. If your child is absent from school, please let us know why as soon as possible, even if it is just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day.
Consistently going to school has countless benefits – from learning, to creating social connections and improving wellbeing through access to support and quality education. Students are required to attend school every day, whether it is the first or last day of the term, Mondays, Fridays or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions and incursions.
As we look ahead to the remainder of the school year, we'd like to remind our school community that we are here to work with you to support your child to thrive. We know that families experience a variety of challenging circumstances, and we are committed to working with you to address any barriers to regular attendance.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to me or your child’s teacher. There are also helpful resources for parents and carers on the NSW Department of Education website.
Thank you for being a part of our school community and for partnering with us to ensure students access the endless benefits of regular school attendance.
