PBL
At SFS, our PBL (Positive Behaviours for Learning) school wide expectations are:
Respect,
Responsibility and
Kindness
For this week’s PBL lesson we have continued to focus on KINDNESS
Outside: Use appropriate language. The children learnt that our words can be hurtful to others and when we use unkind words with others it can affect their self- esteem and confidence.
We discussed how our words and actions impact on how others think and feel about us. We believe in the dignity of the human person. Jesus taught us to love one another as I have loved you (the golden rule: treat others as you would like them to treat you).
The children explored different scenarios and practiced how to show kindness with their words when responding to the situation.
Here are some of our PBL raffle winners from last week. Well done to these children for demonstrating the school expected behaviours.
SRC news
This Semester the SRC have done some amazing things! We have made lots of extra lunchtime clubs and activities including badminton, cricket, soccer, basketball, line tiggy, skipping and Octopus.
We have made more opportunities for Juniors to play different games at lunchtime as they have less clubs.
We shared ideas about how to make the school better. We created a roster for prayer time in the morning outside in the yarning circle. Each Homegroup got a chance to pray outside in the yarning circle.
The Senior SRCs attended a leadership conference at Bunjil place where we listened to inspiring stories of other people and how they became leaders. We were then asked to create a “passion project” about something that we wanted to change in the school for the better.
We wrote speeches to present at a school assembly about what it means to be in the SRC and to talk about our passion projects.
We tried to help children at lunchtime who had no one to play with and we tried to spread kindness around the school. We raised awareness about keeping our school clean.
The SRC worked together to reword the 11 Child safety standards in child friendly language. We did a playground audit to see how many boys and girls play in each area and to check if children were playing safely.
The SRC students enjoyed reflecting on their work and also enjoyed celebrating with some delicious hot chips as an afternoon tea treat!
Here is what our Semester 1 SRC reps had to say about their SRC experience.
Curtis: You get a chance to bring people’s ideas to life and come true and encourage other students.
Harish: I have learnt to be a better leader and to step for the school and talk about our rights.
Gavin: You get to help the school become better and make a difference.
Ricky: You get an opportunity to speak up and be able to let people hear your voice.
Evie: You get to organise new things to give other children a chance to try something new.
Millie: Being in the SRC is chance to be the voice of others who can not speak for themselves.
Jeremiah: It’s fun because you read ideas from sticky notes and some ideas can come true and be real.
Deanne: I like showing kindness to others.
Emilia: I like to help people, when someone is hurt I can tell the teacher and someone will help them.
Micah: I like to care about people.
Ryan: I like to share ideas to make the school better.
Orion: I like to help people with the lunchtime clubs for students who are lonely at lunchtime.
A big thank you to all these students and their valuable contribution in Semester 1.

Annual SFS Twilight Market
We will be having our annual SFS Twilight market this year on Thursday 6th November 2025.
This is an event always enjoyed by our school community. I am in the process of looking for stalls. If you have a small business you would like to promote or you know of someone that would like to promote a small business, please email me or contact the school for an expression of interest form.
The market will run from 5pm to 8pm and the cost of a stall is 30 dollars. You need to provide your own table, chairs, float of money for change and whatever you need for the stall. It is an outdoor market unless in the event of rain, will be held in the hall.
There will be a variety of delicious food trucks to choose from and some student lead stalls from the Action teams. If any students are interested in having a stall they will need the help and supervision of a parent or carer.
Applications for stalls will close at the end of term 2 so please make sure to get your expression of interest form filled out and returned to school. For more information, please contact me on rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
ANY STUDENTS OR FAMILIES WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A MARKET STALL NEED
TO LET ME KNOW ASAP WITH THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM AND DETAILS OF THE STALL.
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
We will celebrate NAIDOC week with a special during week 2 of term 3, 2025.
I am available at school Monday to Thursday. If any parents have a wellbeing concern they would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me at school or send me an email rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the students and their families a very happy and safe Term 2 holidays. Stay warm and safe and I look forward to working with you all in Term 3.
