Gospel: Luke 10:1–12, 17–20
Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.
In this weekend’s Gospel, the readings remind us to rest in God’s love and take up the call to follow Him with joy and humility. They remind us of three powerful truths:
God cares deeply for us, the Cross is our true strength, and discipleship is both a challenge and a gift.
The prophet Isaiah paints a beautiful picture of God comforting His people like a loving mother. In our own lives, this reminds us to pause and notice how gently and consistently God holds us especially in tough times. His care is quiet but powerful, and when we recognise it, we find deep peace and gratitude.
St Paul speaks boldly: it’s not worldly success we should be proud of, but the Cross. The Cross isn’t just a symbol of suffering; it is a sign of God’s incredible love for us. When we fix our eyes on Jesus and what He’s done for us, we are grounded in hope and reminded that His strength works best in our weakness.
In the Gospel, Jesus sends His followers out in pairs, asking them to go simply, trust God, and share peace. Even when the work is hard or not welcomed, their joy overflows. We’re called to that same mission: to be people of love, hope, and healing in our everyday lives. Discipleship isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.
Discussion Starters
- Why do you think Jesus sent the disciples out in pairs and without much?
- Where or when have you been a “messenger of peace” in your home, school, or friendships?
- How does the image of God’s care in the first reading encourage you to trust Him?
- What are some blessings in your life that bring you joy?
- How does focusing on the Cross help you face challenges?
- What does it mean to glory in the Cross in your daily life?
- How can you bring peace to others as Jesus taught in the Gospel?
- What steps can you take to grow as a disciple of Jesus?
- How do you respond when others reject your faith or beliefs?
- What can you learn from the instructions Jesus gave to His disciples?
- How do you experience joy in sharing God’s love with others?
- In what ways can you trust God more fully in your life?
- How can we bring God’s love to others as a family during the holidays?
- What does it mean to trust God when we feel nervous or unsure?
Let us pray: Loving God, help us to trust in your care and follow your path with joy. Teach us to rely on the Cross and share your love with others. Fill us with peace as we face challenges, and guide us to grow as your disciples. May we always walk with you. Thank you for calling us to share your peace and kindness in the world. Help us to travel lightly, trust you more, and find joy in serving others. May our homes be places of welcome, healing, and peace.
Amen.
As Term 3 comes to a close, may your homes be filled with gratitude for all you’ve achieved, peace from the challenges overcome, and joy as you rest and recharge. May God bless your family with fun, love, laughter, and the simple grace of being together. Have a safe and restful holiday!
Women Empowering Women – Faith in Action
On Monday, 30th June, the seniors from all Action Teams were excited to participate in an engaging talk session to learn about the wonderful work the Salesian Sisters carry out in Samoa and the Solomon Islands to empower young children, especially women who face challenges and suppression within their communities.
We welcomed Rev. Sr. Rochelle, a Salesian Sister and current Youth, Sacraments and Music Coordinator at Craigieburn Parish.
Sr. Rochelle shared her inspiring work supporting the education and empowerment of young girls and women, where the Salesian Sisters serve with dedication and love, despite limited resources. She also spoke of the Salesian Charism, rooted in the gentle spirituality of St. Francis de Sales, whose approach of kindness and compassion continues to guide their mission.
Her visit inspired our senior students to connect their faith with real-world action, encouraging them to become Pilgrims of Hope through service, empathy, and meaningful partnerships.
If you have any further questions regarding your child receiving these Sacraments, please feel free to contact me at the school.
God Bless,

GRADE 5/6 SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM – MINI VINNIES
MINI VINNIES SOUP & CHAT NIGHT
Yes, the Mini Vinnies Soup and Chat Night is on again next term on Tuesday August 19th. The permission note has now been placed on Operoo. I ask parents to please respond, listing any dietary requirements your child may have.
There is also a fundraising aspect to this evening. Sponsorship forms have been sent home with Mini Vinnies and is also available as an attachment on Operoo. I am asking Mini Vinnies to ask family and friends for donations. On the Soup and Chat Evening, Mini Vinnies will decide what organisation the money raised is donated to, in order to assist those that maybe experiencing homelessness at the moment. Last year it was donated to Ozanam House, the previous year to the Vinnies Soupvans.
I will also be asking for parent assistance to provide various donations for the evening: soup, cups, spoons, bread rolls, margarine, fruit and also to help serve on the night. An Oeroo notification will be sent out shortly for parents to nominate how they can assist. A big thank you to parents as we wouldn’t be able to run this night without your assistance.
A big thank you also to the staff who have already volunteered to stay behind and assist on the evening.
This evening will also be an action for the Mini Vinnies Action team as they will assist in planning and running the evening.
