Year 1

Nikki Lewis (Team Leader), Maddi Fletcher, Nerida Forster & Chantelle Quinn

Welcome to our second newsletter for the term! It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks, and there’s plenty more to look forward to. From celebrating Book Week and dressing like pirates, to exploring dinosaurs and watching our salt crystals grow in Science, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve also been having fun with special events like Crazy Sock Day while supporting great causes. Read on to see what’s been happening and what’s coming up next!

Crazy Sock Day

Today’s Crazy Sock Day was a huge hit! Students thoroughly enjoyed showing off their colourful and wacky socks, and it was a fantastic fundraiser for the Grade Six graduation.

Book Week

We are excited to celebrate Book Week next week! Our dress-up day will be on Monday 18th August, and we can’t wait to see everyone come dressed as their favourite book character. On the day, we’ll enjoy a special assembly and parade to showcase our amazing costumes. Throughout the week, we’ll also be visited by an author—a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about stories and the writing process.

Dress Like A Pirate Day - Production Fundraiser

On Thursday 4th of September, the Student Representative Council will be holding a Dress Like a Pirate Day! Students are invited to come dressed in their best pirate gear and bring along a gold coin donation to help support our upcoming school production.

Inquiry: Dinosaurs

This term in Inquiry, we are exploring the fascinating world of Dinosaurs—a topic many of our students already love! We’ll be discovering different types of dinosaurs, learning about fossils, and finding out what life was like millions of years ago. As part of our learning journey, we will be visiting the Melbourne Museum on Thursday 11th September

Please make payment via Compass.

Science

In Science, students have recently created salt crystals and are enjoying watching them grow day by day. It’s been an exciting hands-on project, and we look forward to seeing how the crystals continue to develop.

Tissues Donations Needed

We are running low on tissues in our classrooms. If you are able, please send a box of tissues along with your child. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Boxes for Art

Next week in Art, students will be starting a construction activity using boxes. We ask that each child brings in a small to medium-sized box from home to use as a base for their project. Large cereal boxes are too big, but smaller cereal boxes and similar sizes will work perfectly. Thank you for your support in helping us get creative!
