Lego Incursion
On Wednesday 6th August, we were lucky to have Ryan Evans (from Lego Masters) visit our school with his impressive Lego collection. He wowed us with some of his incredible creations before students got creative designing their own Lego cars to race against each other. The excitement continued as teams collaborated to construct the tallest tower they could. Check out the photos below for some of the highlights and action from the day.
PMP
Our Foundation students began participating in the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) fortnightly on Mondays last term. PMP uses movement and multi-sensory activities to help children develop important skills like coordination, balance, memory and spatial awareness. These skills not only prepare students for formal learning but also help them succeed in the classroom and beyond. A big thank you to Mrs Walsh for planning and organising such engaging sessions. Check out some of the fun we had last Monday!
Book Week
Book Week starts next Monday 18th August with our dress-up day. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed as their favourite book character. There will be a special assembly and parade on Monday to show off our costumes. We’ll also enjoy a visit from author Mark Wilson on Thursday 21st August – a wonderful chance to learn more about stories and writing!
Wheels Parade - Wednesday 27th August
As part of our Inquiry unit, we will be holding a Wheels Parade on Wednesday 27th August (Week 6). The parade will begin at 9:10am. Students are encouraged to bring along a toy or item that has wheels — such as a bike, scooter, pram or remote control car. Parents are invited to stay and watch the fun. For safety, students riding bikes, scooters or wearing roller blades must wear a helmet. We kindly ask if parents who are attending are able take home any large items (especially bikes) straight after the parade, as we have limited space for storage in the classroom.
Take Home Readers Reminder
This term, some students will be reading from the same Take-Home Reader box as last term. This means that, on occasion, your child may receive books they have already read. Please be assured that this is intentional, as revisiting familiar texts helps to develop fluency, accuracy, and comprehension skills. We anticipate that students will progress to the next reading level next term, at which point they will receive a new set of books to continue their learning journey.
In the meantime, if your child would like additional or different reading material, we encourage you to explore the Decodable Readers Australia (DRA) Online Library. This resource offers a wide library of books to support and enhance your child’s reading experience. Login details were distributed by your child’s teacher during parent-teacher interviews. If you were unable to attend, these details will be sent home in your child’s satchel as soon as possible.
