Hello Vermont PS and Kindergarten friends! We hope that you have all had a great few weeks. We have had a busy time at school over the last couple of weeks, with some exciting activities and events next week for Book Week. We can't wait to see the fantastic costumes, hear from authors and participate in the Great Vermont Book Swap (for children and for adults!)
We are very excited to announce that tickets are now available for families to purchase for our spectacular production of, "Pirates of the Curry Bean". Tickets can be purchased through TryBooking using this link 2025 VPS Production - Pirates of the Curry Bean Tickets, Crossway, Burwood East | TryBooking Australia

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
To participate use this link https://research.orima.com/parent and enter the code 573576.
Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
Today we met with a group of Architects who are involved in the tenderering process to develop a Master Plan for Vermont Primary School. This is very exciting for our school community, and is hopefully a great indicator that we will be in line for full funding to upgrade our school buildings and facilities. The school vision and educational values that inform the next steps in our quest for facilities upgrades has been supported by families who offered feedback last term as part of the community consultation. Thank you again to all of you who took the time to fill this in as it was a tremendous help!
Unfortunately, we have had a number of students and staff away from school due to illness. Covid and Influenza seem to be doing the rounds in the school, and sadly we have had a number of people in our community fall very ill with it. We urge you to please take care of yourself, and not send sick children to school. It is unfair on the child who is feeling unwell to expect them to come to school and be able to concentrate when they are feeling so sick, but this also puts other students and staff members at risk of becoming ill. We understand that it is sometimes hard for families to take time off work to care for sick children, but it is the responsible and necessary thing to do to ensure as best as possible that we are caring for the health of everyone in our community.
