Mary MacKillop Feast Day today

Fr Jithin gave us a wonderful little story about Mary MacKillop today at Mass. We learned through this story that during her stint as a teacher at one of her many schools that she worked, she used to travel by foot. One day, one of her shoes broke. She didn’t have the money to buy a new pair, so she simply tied the shoe together and kept going. Despite the discomfort and difficulty, Mary continued her journey without complaint. She explained to one of her students that she tied it up so that it didn't get away from her! Her determination and humility showed her strong spirit and commitment to helping others, no matter the personal cost. This small but powerful moment reflected Mary’s dedication to living simply and serving those in need, which she carried throughout her life as Australia’s first saint and the founder of the Sisters of St Joseph.
