PEย
Last week in PE, students in all classes continued to develop their skills and knowledge of basketball. They continued to work on their dribbling and ball handling, passing and working as a team as they played mini games. The younger students had a go at shooting using the lower basketball rings, which they really enjoyed. While the older students finished off with mini games as some students prepared for the Kingston District Basketball competition on Friday, 8th.ย
This week, House Athletics was due to be held on the Friday, so students have started learning some athletic event skills, particularly shot put and discus which are quite specific actions and take some understanding. They will continue this and also develop their skills of long jump and triple jump.
This will help them be ready for our house athletics day, which will now be held on Monday, 1st September.

Kingston Division Teeball โ Friday, August 1st
On Friday August 1st, our teeball girls competed at the Kingston Division Teeball competition. The girls have practised a lot over the past few weeks and further developed their skills and knowledge of the game, and as a result we headed to the competition quietly confident that they could do very well.
There were three round robin games, which our girls won 28-4, 23-4 and 35-0. Our girls were dominating but we had been keeping our eye out on the other teams and their was one team that was also winning comfortably, so it was going to be a close Grand Final.
Having scored easily in the first 3 games, after the first innings is was 2 runs each. This was going to be tense.
The girls kept the opposition scoreless in the 2nd innings while we managed to score 6, and in the end this was the deciding innings as the girls went on to win 10-8.
It was an amazing day, and now the girls move onto the Regional competition which will be held on Monday. We wish them luck for this next stage of competition.
Kingston District Basketball Day โ Friday, August 8th
Last Friday we had 20 year 5 and 6 students play in the Kingston District Basketball day. Our students were really enthusiastic and tried their very best. The girls team was very competitive in all games and managed to win two, had a tie and had some very close losses. The boys had a more challenging competition, but managed to win won game comfortably and had a couple of narrow losses.
Although we didnโt get a lot of wins, all our students showed great sportsmanship, teamwork and enthusiasm.
Well done to all the students for their efforts.

In Auslan, the students have been learning how to sign all the AFL football teams. We have also been doing some revision and going over what signs, we have already learned.ย
With the weather starting to warm up a little, we will now try to have some outdoor time in Auslan. The students have been coming up with some great games on the oval. These games incorporate components of Auslan. They include Auslan memory tag, Auslan fruit salad and Auslan musical chairs.ย
The creativity of the students has been wonderful to observe.ย

The grade 5&6 Music Program
Weโve been exploring a range of instruments โ marimbas, xylophones, metallophones, keyboards, and the drum kit โ while diving into iconic repertoire, from Coldplay classics to this weekโs focus, Seven Nation Army. Along the way, weโve been building our musicianship by learning to identify piano keys, play melodies, create bass lines, and add rich harmonies through chords.
