Term 3 Week 4 - 15th August 2025

Preps have been wonderful! They are beginning to consolidate their learning from terms 1 and 2.  We have been enjoying many activities during lunchtimes for Science week and we have watched a simultaneous story read to us and many other students across Australia by the wonderful author and Illustrator Andrew Cosgrove which was great fun!

Next week is book week and we have some very exciting events on our calendar.

Wednesday Prep - 4, will be attending a book week performance in the hall by PerformED and on Thursday there is book week dress up. Parents are very welcome to join us for the book week parade.

In addition, the following events will also be happening. Stay tuned for more details…

  • Book Week
  • School Disco
  • Father’s Day Stall
  • House Athletics Day

A big thankyou to all parents for supporting the Prep team with no toys at school. It is making a big difference to each focus with less distractions at school.

Literacy

This term we will be focussing on procedures and scientific reports. The lessons will be filled with explicit teaching to the elements of a scientific report such as a title, question, hypothesis (Prediction), materials, procedure, Results and conclusion .

We have had fun conducting experiments. Coloured celery, dancing raisins and fireworks in a cup! Of course these had been a highlight each week!  The preps are then working hard to write a hypothesis, materials used and the procedure about these experiments and having lots of success.

We have begun learning partitioning of numbers to 10. Breaking them down into two parts such as 6 and 4. The preps have been enjoying this and using counters and their whiteboards to support their learning. Some children are even challenging themselves and going beyond 10.

Inquiry/Science

This term in Inquiry, we will be exploring Indigenous culture, with a focus on the connections First Nations people have with place and Country. Students will learn about the importance of land, storytelling, symbols, and traditions, and how these elements are deeply connected to identity and community. Through stories, and class discussions, students will begin to understand and appreciate the rich history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
