From the Principal

Our Vision

Each child has a gift or talent. It is our job to find it and to show it to them.

Our Mission

Identify the talent, develop the confidence and create the leader.

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the halfway point of Term 2, it’s a pleasure to walk through our classrooms and feel the unmistakable buzz of learning and positivity in the air. Students are engaged, focused, and demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for their learning across all year levels. Whether it’s collaborative projects, individual goal setting, or preparing for upcoming school events, the sense of pride and purpose in each room is inspiring.

This positive energy is also making a strong impression on prospective families touring the school. It has been heartening to hear parents comment on how welcoming our students are and how confidently they speak about their learning and leadership experiences. Our student tour guides, in particular, continue to shine – showcasing not only the physical spaces of our school, but also the values and character that define our community.

It’s a powerful reminder of the culture we’ve built together – one where every student feels empowered to lead, learn, and grow. Thank you to all staff, students, and families for the ongoing commitment and warmth that make Le Page Primary School such a special place to belong. We look forward to continuing this positive momentum throughout the rest of the term.

The Social and Fundraising Team’s Incredible Mother’s/Special Person's Day Effort

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Social and Fundraising Team and the many dedicated parents who contributed to the incredible success of this year’s Mother’s Day Stall. Their outstanding effort and generosity provided over 1,000 high-quality gifts (many donated) for our students and staff to purchase - each one chosen with care to make Mother’s Day extra special for our school community.

This remarkable initiative reflects the creativity, commitment, and tireless work of the team. From sourcing and packaging beautiful gifts to organising and running the stall with warmth and efficiency, every detail was thoughtfully managed. The children were excited and proud to choose gifts for their loved ones, and it was heart-warming to witness the joy and appreciation that came from this meaningful tradition.

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and love that went into making this event such a success. The stall not only raised valuable funds to support school initiatives but also strengthened our sense of connection and community spirit. Thank you to every parent who helped make this possible - you’ve created lasting memories for our students and helped make Mother’s Day truly special.

Empowering Our Students Through Life Saving Knowledge

This week, students across the school engaged in the First Aid in Schools Program, with a special focus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). These sessions equipped students with essential, age-appropriate lifesaving skills and the confidence to respond in an emergency. It was inspiring to witness our students approach this serious subject with maturity, curiosity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Foundation Students’ Excursion to Myuna Farm

Our enthusiastic Foundation students embarked on an exciting and educational excursion to Myuna Farm on Tuesday. The visit provided a hands-on learning experience as the students interacted with a variety of farm animals, including sheep, goats, and chickens. A surprise highlight was meeting some fascinating reptiles and even camels, which sparked lots of conversation and wide-eyed wonder! This excursion supported their understanding of living things and farm life while fostering a love of nature and animals.

Melbourne Museum Excursion – Celebrating and Deepening Understanding of First Nations Culture

On Monday, 19th May, our Year 3 to Year 6 students will have the exciting opportunity to participate in a highly enriching excursion to the Melbourne Museum, with a specific focus on learning about and celebrating First Nations culture.

The visit is designed to support and extend the students’ classroom learning as part of our commitment to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum. Throughout the day, students will explore the museum’s exhibitions in their year-level groups, engaging with displays that highlight the rich history, deep spirituality, and enduring legacy of Australia’s First Nations peoples.

A highlight of the excursion will be a private, guided tour of local Indigenous artifacts, where students will learn about the significance, stories, and cultural meaning of these items as they relate to the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples—the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and learn. This experience will help students to build a stronger understanding of Country, culture, and connection, and reflect on how these values continue to shape our community today.

This learning experience not only aligns with our curriculum goals in Humanities and the Arts, but also promotes empathy, cultural awareness, and respect—values that are at the heart of our school’s vision for inclusive and informed citizenship. Our students are approaching this opportunity with great curiosity and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing the meaningful conversations and reflections that will emerge following this important excursion.

Supporting Every Learner – Professional Development for Education Support Staff

Our dedicated Education Support Staff took part in a valuable professional learning workshop this week, led by our insightful Occupational Therapist, Marissa. The focus of the session was on understanding and supporting students’ sensory needs, a vital area that plays a big role in enhancing student engagement and emotional regulation. This ongoing learning ensures our staff remain equipped with the tools and strategies necessary to support every student in a tailored, compassionate, and effective way.

Recognising and Celebrating Our Education Support Heroes

In the spirit of gratitude and teamwork, today our teaching staff came together to celebrate the incredible contributions of our Education Support Staff. With heartfelt appreciation, the teachers prepared a generous morning tea, turning the staffroom into a warm space of camaraderie and recognition. The smiles, laughter, and words of thanks shared throughout the day were a testament to the deep respect and gratitude felt for the unwavering support our ES staff bring to every classroom, every day.

Living the 7 Habits – Habit 3 in Action

This week, students have been diving deep into Habit 3: Put First Things First. Across classrooms, students have been learning how to prioritise tasks, manage their time, and focus on what's most important. Whether through goal setting, classroom routines, or personal organisation strategies, students are making thoughtful choices that reflect this key leadership habit. Their progress is a clear indication of the meaningful impact that the Leader in Me program continues to have on their personal and academic development.

A Mural to Inspire - Celebrating the 7 Habits

Our school is set to become even more vibrant and inspiring with the upcoming creation of a new mural on the exterior wall of the Art Building (where the painted chess board currently resides). Designed by Urban Art, the mural will visually celebrate the 7 Habits of Happy Children, blending beloved characters, vivid backdrops, and empowering messages. This project not only promises to beautify the school grounds but will serve as a daily reminder of our school’s positive, student-centred values. Painting is scheduled to begin in the next two weeks, and we eagerly await this exciting transformation.

Have a great weekend everyone!
