Wonderful 1

I The 0ne-der Stars 1s
Term 2 Week 4 2025 - Friday 16th April
What have we been up to?
Wow, we’re already in Weeks 3 and 4! The students are settling in nicely, and we’ve been having lots of fun learning new things together. These past two weeks, we’ve been working on writing, reading, math, and exploring the world around us.
In reading, we’ve continued exploring The Curious Garden. We’ve been having fun with the story while focusing on adjectives and how they help us describe things in exciting ways! The students have been using adjectives to write about the 5 senses, creating colorful and descriptive pieces of writing.
In math, we’ve been focusing on subtraction. The students have been using a variety of strategies to solve simple subtraction equations. These include using number lines, counting on and backwards, fingers, and even drawing pictures to help them understand the math better.
Each day, we’ve also been practicing fluency pairs and doing explicit handwriting practice. These activities help the students become more comfortable with their writing and improve their fluency, all while having fun and getting better every day!
Here are some photo highlights from the fortnight that was!
Students explored a real life curious garden to help them come up with adjectives using their 5 senses.
Students used Numicon and Playdough to solve simple subtraction equations.
Students spent time making special Mother’s Day cards for their amazing mothers.
