Term 2 Week 4 - 16th May 2025

We have had a busy couple of weeks in Prep.

Students are progressing well with their recount writing, with many managing to copy a teacher's writing from the board. Some students are even challenging themselves to write some words or sounds independently which is fabulous to see!

We have begun weekly sessions with Grade 2A buddies. It was a great first session when the Grade 2 came to our classroom. We took some time to get to know our buddies name and their favourite colour and then Mrs Mugford taught a Leader in Me session and then the grade 2 buddies supported the Preps to complete an activity. We are excited for our next session on Wednesday afternoon! There are some photos below.

We were also treated to a visit from St John’s Ambulance. They spent time in our classroom teaching the Preps about first Aid and who to call and what to do if there is an emergency. If your child was in class this day, they will find a certificate of completion. This was a fun session with lots of enthusiasm from all.

Literacy/Myuna Farm Excursion

We had a wonderful day visiting the Farm. All preps were displaying the 7 habits when we walked around and participated in many Farm activities. We had a train ride to the paddocks and wetlands, we hand fed some animals, we all made some flour from wheat, milked a goat and we saw and patted the baby animals in the nursery.

We have been working on recount writing in class, so the Preps have been trying their hardest to complete their own recount of their day at the Farm.

I have included a phonics table that shows what sounds and words are taught when. I will continue to update this in term 2.

Maths:

Students have been busy participating in 1:1 assessments for maths. We have been learning about height and days of the week and sequencing what things happen when in a day. It was lots of fun acting out what we do throughout the day.

Leader In me:

We are continually using the language of the 7 habits in the classroom. It is lovely to hear students using the 7 habits language in the classroom. .
